Good morning everyone and happy Friday! I have to say I am delighted it’s Friday, It’s been a hectic week and I am in need of a bit of R&R. It’s week 3 of Dexter being at secondary school and so far things havn’t let up! Is anyone else in the same boat? things are just sooooo busy! Tonight I am meeting a friend for dinner and Saturday Nik and I are off to see Tina the musical, what about you? To finish off the week I have the fabulous and super glam wedding of Alyssa and Kieran. This fun loving couple wanted a wedding that was filled with love, romance and adventure, finishing off with the wildest party! Starting off with a welcome boat party where all the guests wore white this couple really set the bar for the rest of the wedding weekend. The wedding itself was pure glamorous romance, the couple are absolutely stunning and the whole wedding is breath taking. Fast forward to the reception and things got wild, with a change of outfits, entertainment like I have never seen before including ‘water drums’ well things got wet and the whole wedding party went crazy! This Mexico wedding really is quite something! Big thanks to Aubrey Oothout for the amazing photos.
Alyssa and Kieran were married on 1st February 2025. The ceremony was held at Waldorf Astoria Pedregal Los Cabos with the reception at The Sunset Monalisa, they also held a Welcome Boat Party at Pelican Cabo. ‘We both fell in love with both venues right away, and it was exactly the type of atmosphere we were searching for. Cabo is definitely a really fun place to get married, and we both love the beach, and wanted the location to be not too far for everyone to travel. Truly was a party of a lifetime, and I believe the venue was perfect for us! We had 70 guests and it took 6 months to plan.’
How they met
I met my Husband Kieran on a dating app during Covid in Los Angeles where we both lived at the time. He is from Australia, and I am from Texas. Since the day we met I knew he was the one. We have been together for 5 years. We now share a beautiful little angel named Honey Mae, and another little girl on the way!!
The proposal
Kieran proposed in 2024 in Sydney, Australia overlooking Whale Beach which was so beautiful. The day is one I truly will never forget, and how special we got to share it with our daughter!
How did you allocate your budget?
We focused on what truly mattered to us, and allocated most of our money towards that. We saved money on things that weren’t important to us, and didn’t worry about it.
Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We splurged on the venue, my dress, the accommodations for our loved ones, and the Videographer and Photographer were very important to us.
We saved money on the decor by doing a lot of things myself!
How did you choose your photographer?
I instantly knew Aubrey Oothout was the one! I found her on social media, and after talking to her there was no doubt she would be perfect. She is an amazing person, and I couldn’t of asked for a better photographer! Truly incredible!
The dress
My dress was designed by Galia Lahav named Bijou. My accessories were rented through Verstolo Fine Jewelry, and my shoes were Gianni Bini.
The suit and bridesmaids
The suit was customed made by Q Clothier. The bridesmaids dresses were Show Me Your Mumu.
Theme or colour scheme
The colour scheme for the ceremony was all an all white ceremony. The reception colour was all pink!
Flowers
We had all roses!
Decoration
We had a lot of different decor. For the welcome boat party we had custom shirts, and custom coconuts. For the ceremony and reception we had arches covered in flowers. We had a lot of details throughout the day including a PS. I love you seating chart with custom hand written notes to each guest. We had a guestbook telephone to leave a voicemail, dessert carriage carts, welcome signs, string lights, bar signs featuring my dog, a custom dance floor, custom table numbers with our faces at each age, pearls hanging from the flowers on every table, and a lot more!
Food
We had 5 different appetizers during cocktail hour. And for the dinner, the starter consisted of a Burrata Caprese salad, or a Beet Thyme salad. The main entrée was either steak or fish. And the desserts were a raspberry tart, or passionfruit pastry. And late night pizza!
wedding cake
A wedding cake wasn’t something I spent much time or money on. The wedding cake was white and pink. We also had a dessert cart.
Entertainment
We had a lot of fun entertainment! Entertainment consisted of a violinist at our ceremony. To enter the reception there was a champagne lady greeting guests with drinks. We had a duet couple singing during our dinner, and a DJ the rest of the night. We had a lot of fun entertainment throughout the night including people on stilts, mirror people dancing, neon face painting, and water drums.
Who supplied the stationery?
I made most of it myself on Etsy. Amy Abbott events helped with the rest!
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went to Kauai, and stayed at the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay! Truly paradise on earth!
Personal touches
Yes! I love all the details! I wanted our wedding to be authentic, and special to us so I mainly did everything myself! We also did an entire choreographed first dance. As far as decor the wedding programs, bar signs, and invitations I created. My “Something Blue” was my Daughters bow in the back of her dress which meant so much to me. Another detail that was special to me was the seating chart “ P.S. I love you.” I wrote a handwritten personal thank you letter to each guest there, and they read it as they were walking to their table.
Special moments
There are so many moments I will never forget from our wedding that I wish I could relive over and over. Walking down the aisle with my Dad to a meaningful song called Oceans by Hillsong playing in the background surrounded by all of our favourite people & looking up at my husband see me for the first time tearing up was a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life. Exchanging vows in front of everyone was amazing, and felt surreal. Also, being able to share our wedding day with our daughter as our flower girl was so special. My husband and daughter also did a dance which was so sweet! And the reception was a party of a lifetime!
What advice would you give other couples?
The advice I would give to future couples is to take it all in, and be present in the moment. The day goes by faster than you know! Don’t stress over little things not everything will be perfect, and that’s okay! Also, don’t care what people think be who you are, and have the time of your life! Just remember you’re the guest of honor not the host! And I wish as a new bride I would’ve planned out the day better, and had more time with my Bridesmaids to chill, and hang out before the ceremony. Everything felt very rushed, and I was the last one to get ready, so I was running out the door.
What was your biggest surprise of the day?
The biggest surprise of the day was last minute deciding to do our vows in front of everyone, and I am so glad we did! Highly recommend! And just how smoothly, and perfect everything went!
