1. Choose Jewelry in Complementary Hues

Your jewelry is a significant part of your overall look. Pay homage to the gorgeous hues of the season by incorporating high-quality accessories like gold bridal earrings or a rose gold necklace. Buy these early so you can bring them to your bridal alterations appointments.

2. Think About the Weather

Fall temperatures can be unpredictable, so plan your event accordingly in case chilly weather suddenly arrives. Consider having a basket of soft blankets so guests stay warm, and keep patio heaters on standby if your event is fully or partially outdoors. Your guests will appreciate the cozy extra touches and attention to detail.

3. Embrace the Colour Palette

Fall’s fantastic colour palette, including shades like yellow, red, burnt orange, and forest green, makes an excellent starting point for deciding your wedding colours. These rich tones are perfect for reflecting the season’s beauty. As tempting as it may be to think solely of aesthetics, consider what makes you happiest and go from there. You can embrace autumn while still making your wedding feel unique and personalized.

4. Choose Versatile Attire

It’s important to take precautions for the big day by choosing wedding attire you’ll feel comfortable in. Since the weather can vary and change quickly, going from warm during the day to cold at night, it’s helpful to plan for a temperature shift. If your wedding dress is sleeveless, bring clothing you can put on if you get chilly, such as a shawl or cropped jacket. They’ll look fabulous with your outfit and keep you warm, especially if you go outside for a break from the festivities or to take photos.

5. Plan a Seasonal Menu

Plan a wedding reception menu that celebrates the comforting flavours of fall. Ingredients to consider include roasted squash, sweet potatoes, figs, cranberries, apples, and root vegetables. Warm soups make lovely first courses, and you can even serve them in small pumpkins. However, you can also consider lighter options, like a cranberry walnut chicken salad.

Pork chops, roasted turkey with stuffing, and stuffed butternut squash are filling, hearty entrée options. A few mouth watering ideas for dessert are an apple pie with vanilla cinnamon ice cream, pumpkin cheesecake, and cream-stuffed cinnamon rolls.

Make sure to also plan a seasonal drink menu. Bourbon, apple cider, pumpkin beer and cranberry wine are lovely choices.

6. Strategically Plan Photo Opportunities

One of the best aspects of fall is the many phenomenal photo opportunities. For example, take your beautiful, affordable engagement rings and set them in front of a backdrop of bright fall leaves for a frame-worthy picture. You can also drape your bridal necklace over the top of a pumpkin and put your wedding rings on the stem.

If you want stunning sunset pictures, make sure to plan your wedding and reception times carefully. You don’t want to be getting ready or in the middle of the ceremony as the sun starts to go down. The ideal time is right after the ceremony but before the reception officially starts, giving you and your new spouse plenty of time to take sunset photos before celebrating.

7. Choose Seasonal Themed Decor

Take advantage of the variety of fall seasonal decor for your wedding and reception. Fall bouquets are a must, but you can also incorporate items like pumpkins, cream-colored faux candles, fairy lights, cable knit, fabric autumn leaves, and fall flower garlands. They add more beauty to the environment and create conversation-worthy backdrops for yourself and your guests.

8. Make Reservations Far in Advance

Autumn is an incredibly popular time for weddings, so don’t delay making any reservations. Everything can book up fast, especially with popular businesses. If you’ve always dreamed of having a fall wedding, it’s ideal to start planning for it right after you take some time to enjoy your engagement. This increases your chances of having everything you want without running into roadblocks.
