Todays’ wedding is timeless, romantic and full of pretty soft tones and pops of light pink. Kate and Michael had a laid back outdoor wedding, where they held not only their ceremony outside in the country ranch air, but also had their wedding reception Al Fresco with the beautiful Colorado scenery as their backdrop. They kept the decoration simple as not to reflect away from their gorgeous surroundings, with neutral tones and minimal fuss on the tables. What decor they did have worked perfectly with their overall look, which was put together by La Joya Dulce.com and captured perfectly by Tippy Jordan.
Kate and Michael were married on 12th August 2023 at La Joya Dulce, Steamboat Springs, Colorado. ‘We called. Booked a tour immediately. Fell in love with the ranch and booked it, we had 146 guests. It took just under a year to plan, we booked in September and got married the following August.’
How they met
We swiped and have been together since 2019 – through COVID and now married!
The proposal.
We were in Greece on vacation. At sunset, on the beach, Michael got down on one knee and I couldn’t say “yes,” fast enough.
How did you allocate your budget?
Us and our parents pitched in to the overall budget. We allocated where to spend the money by prioritizing certain aspects of our wedding to have a higher budget such as photography and videography.
Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We wanted to remember our day forever, so photography and videography were important to us, along with the venue. We were able to save by using acquaintances for florals and for catering.
How did you choose your photographer?
I saw her website and fell in love with her black and white photos – so timeless! And, did you see our photos and how comfortable we look?
The dress

Theme or colour scheme
The colour scheme was very neutral with pops of light pinks for a pretty and timeless look.
Flowers
We had a variety of different flowers.
Decoration
The venue was so beautiful we didn’t go overboard with decorations. Our caterer provided beautiful china that elevated our table designs and since the majority of our wedding day was outdoors (welcome, ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner) we used the beautiful scenery around the venue as our décor. We wanted to support small business run by women for all things like venue, our photographer, our caterer, our card box, table numbers, and other signage to name a few.
Food
Passed appetizers. Heirloom lettuce salad with Palisade peaches, a choice of salmon or steak.
Wedding cake
From the gluten free bakery in Steamboat, Inclusions.
Entertainment
DJ Bertie
Stationery
Minted
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went directly from our wedding to Hawaii. We started in Lanai, then Maui, and ended in Kauai.
Personal touches
I had a special dance with my mom!
Special moments
Dining outside and our champagne tower.
Advice for other couples
Utilize planning/coordination services! It helps a ton!
Biggest surprise
Not necessarily a surprise, but how amazing and perfect our day was.
