Boho Loves: Groove Control DJs – Keeping Your Guests Dancing all Night Long

Getting the entertainment right for your wedding can be a stressful wedding planning job. First of all there are so many options out there and secondary how do you please everyone? Some people prefer bands but they come at a cost and can also take up quite a bit of room. So what about a DJ? the right DJ will work with you curating the right soundtrack to your evening reception. They will find out what sort of music you like and make sure they play accordingly to your tastes. They also bring with them expert knowledge of what gets the party started and what will keep your guests dancing all night long. Today I would like to introduce you to Groove Control DJs a fantastic DJ set up who cover the Northamptonshire area of the UK. Headed up by Malcolm Demarco, he works with other talented DJs with the same ethos as he does, creating first class parties for first class weddings.

We’re a family-run business based in Northamptonshire. Our multi-faceted DJ specialize in featuring music from different genres and in performing as MCs. We can also provide karaoke entertainment, disco lighting, up lighting and digital photo pods.

What made you start your business?
The business was launched by my father, DJ Pascoe, in 2001. Initially, it was a side hustle and something he used to earn money during the weekend. I (DJ Malcolm) joined the business in 2015 and since then we’ve focused on performing at weddings.

What sort of geographical area do you cover?
Within a 150-mile radius of Northampton

What were you doing before?
I was a Personal Trainer

How would you describe your style of music/DJ style?
Our styles are eclectic however we specialize in featuring Soul and R&B music.

What makes you different to your competitors?
The fact that we offer so many other products aside from just DJing. For instance, we have a digital photo pod that can be used to take photos, pictures and GIFs. We can also provide Karaoke entertainment and disco lighting.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
It’s a privilege to play a part of what is a special day for our clients. We love helping people to create memories.

What sort of couple do you think you attract?
We attract couples of all ages and from all backgrounds. We particularly enjoying entertaining couples who share our love for Soul music released after 1960.

What would be your ideal wedding to work on?
At the moment, we thoroughly enjoy working at weddings in barns and at rural venues. This is because they allow us to use our rustic wooden setup.

What are your 3 sure fire tracks to get the party started?
‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ by Sophie Elis-Bextor, ‘Twistin the Night Away’ by Sam Cooke and ‘Respect’ by Erasure

What do you think are the benefits of using a DJ against a playlist?
A playlist gives a DJ a sense of what a client would like to hear. Modern playlist can also be shared digitally among the wedding party which gives other people an opportunity to contribute.

What is your ideal way to spend a day off?
A run in the countryside followed by lunch at the Pub.

What can you never leave the house without?
My phone charger!

If you weren’t running your business, what would you be doing?
I’d be focusing on running my catering business which is called Plush Pancakes. We serve Crepes and American Pancakes on film sets and at corporate events.
