Boho Loves: Words and Wisdom – Delightful Bespoke Wedding Ceremony and Reception Writing

Today I am delighted to introduce you to a wonderful wedding supplier who I stumbled upon a few weeks ago, Hannah from Words and Wisdom who runs a bespoke wedding ceremony and reception writing business. Personalisation is nothing new in the world of weddings but going bespoke offers a whole other level of quality, result and reward. If you’re looking to realise the potential your wedding ceremony or reception has to feel truly yours then let me introduce you to Words and Wisdom and bespoke wedding writing at its best.

What does your ceremony writing range include?
You can choose from ‘Story so far’ sections, capturing your relationship in an entirely authentic and entertaining way; ‘The Why’ segments, explaining what matters most to you both; bespoke readings of all shapes and sizes; original declarations, vows and exchanges of rings for the heart of your ceremony; moving text to go with any symbolic act of your choosing and apt well-wishing poems to finish your ceremony in style.

What kind of reception toasts and speeches do you write?
I can create myriad different wedding reception texts: single toasts or speeches written with the speaker’s own words; single toasts written with the words of more than one contributor; mirror image toasts or speeches for any happy couple to perform; multi-speaker toasts that dovetail together and speeches written with the words of a small group of contributors. That’s the beauty, flexibility and individuality of bespoke writing.

What does your creative process involve?
First, we’d establish what kind of writing would suit you most and who might contribute. Then I’d devise questions for our contributors to answer and write our first draft with their words. Our tweaks will get it as close to perfect as possible. You don’t need to think you’re good at writing to book me, you just need to commit some time and energy to the process. Don’t worry, it’s fun! It will also repay any effort we make a thousandfold.

In what ways could you involve our family and friends?
I can either write directly for your loved ones (e.g. a father of the bride’s speech written with other relatives’ words too) or with your loved ones’ words blended (e.g. a bespoke reading written with your best friends’ insights). It’s a golden opportunity to include those you love in an imaginative and inclusive way. Family and friends are always incredibly touched to be involved, especially if they’re unable to attend on the day itself.

I just want some help with my speech, is that ok?
That’s absolutely ok. I can offer any level of support required. If you’re a Best Man/Woman, groom/bride or father/mother of the bride/groom and would like help to write a traditional toast or speech that says everything you want it to in just the right way, I’ll be happy to assist. Working together, we’ll take any stress out of the equation and focus instead on creating a wonderful piece of writing you can be really proud of.

How does bespoke writing work in a Registrar wedding?
All my wedding ceremony writing is designed to fit within the statutory requirements of a Registrar-led wedding and when I designed my wedding ceremony range, I made sure it was in line with advice from the General Register Office itself. So, all you need to do is let your Registrars know you’d like to include particular bespoke elements and they’ll want to approve them before the day. It needn’t be any more complicated than that.

Can bespoke writing really make that much difference?
The right bespoke writing can have a transformative effect on your day, adding so much meaning. Sharing the whole reflective process beforehand with your partner and loved ones is very special and the emotional reaction of your guests on the day is then all the more resonant. People will remember your writing for years and couples often say they return to their text as both comfort and compass. There’s nothing more personal.

So there you have it, why would you not want a bespoke wedding service for your own wedding? Hannah can take the stress out of your wedding ceremony or reception speeches and create something truly unique and personal to you. After all isn’t that what a Boho wedding is all about!
