Today I am brining you the most stunning wedding, a day filled with true elegance. Brooke and Dylan were married at The Squire Tarbox Inn in Maine. They held a heart warming ceremony under a gorgeous old willow tree, followed by the most beautiful reception in a clear marquee, which was adorned in flowers, so their guests really got a sense of the outdoors, inside. Brooke was crowned Miss Maine USA in 2017 and she looks like she has just stepped out of a fashion magazine. Poised, elegant and totally jaw droppingly beautiful! What a handsome couple her and Dylan are. A totally stunning wedding from start to finish, all captured beautifully by Emily Delamater.
How did you meet
A patient of mine encouraged me to give my number to “an asthmatic golfer looking for a Nurse who also enjoys golf” :) I could tell he had a sense of humour, and when she showed me his picture, I blushed and quickly obliged. He was incredibly handsome and had kind eyes. On our first date we drove around after dinner blaring Whitney Houston and talking about life. I knew he was special. He proposed 364 days after we began dating on November 5, 2022. He took our chihuahua Sheldon and I on a walk me down by the water at one of my favourite spots near our home, a gorgeous coastal marsh with tall grass and a sandy pathway. When we reached the water I threw Sheldon a stick and turned around to find Dylan on one knee and in tears, “Brooke Lindsay Harris. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. You’re my best friend. Will you marry me?” YES!
The dress
I tried on About 40-50 dresses, I went on 4 different shopping trips and was so indecisive but G-104 was the second Ghalia dress I had ever tried on and the romantic floral appliqué, step-in body suit, and gorgeous silhouette stole my heart! I had never felt more beautiful and the bonus is it was also the most comfortable gown I had tried on!
It was the way I felt when I put it on. The way I got excited to show Dylan on our wedding day and the tears I cried on the way home. I made my mother return to Boston from Maine to share the moment with her when I officially said yes to the dress!
My gown arrived sooner than expected and was a beautiful as I remembered. I had just two fittings from Alerations by Anahit and Donatelli’s and it fit like a glove. The dress is extremely comfortable and easy to dance in! The romantic draping on the shoulders and floral appliqué are so delicately placed and made me feel so beautiful and bridal.
Special Moments
Seeing Dylan for the first time and sharing our vows privately just before our ceremony. There were many happy tears, and I will forever cherish those memories and promises made to each other in such an intimate way.
I was given my Great-Grandmother’s wedding band from 1945 when she passed at the age of 103. We were very close, and I felt her with us all weekend. My husband and I came face to face with a beautiful doe the morning after our wedding. It stared at us for what felt like minutes before trotting into the thick Maine woods. I like to think it was he
Advice for other couples
Wedding planning should be fun! Plan a date night, put YouTube dance lessons on the tv, have a glass of wine and make it fun and most importantly, make it you!
Also in hindsight I wouldn’t have stressed so much about the small things. On the day of, they don’t matter. You and your partner committing to each other is. Don’t put unnecessary pressure on yourself, because the people at your wedding love you and your partner and are there to celebrate and love you, not critique you! Put thought into what you both truly want and don’t compromise for anyone but each other.
Personal touches
I loved the sentimental touches we added to make the ceremony and reception intimate and true to us. Family wedding photos ranging from the 1930’s-1980’s were displayed. Beautiful linen signs with an engagement photo each swayed in the breeze. Our pets painting was featured at the bar, “Drinks are on Us!”
Life advice my Mother’s Father wrote to a cousin on his death-bed were read aloud to attendees. A close family cousin read my favourite poem “Soul Mates” by Lang Leav. Our vows were shared under a gorgeous old willow tree, and we took a cutting to propagate and plant on our land as part of our ceremony. These small touches made the event look beautiful but more importantly made it feel warm and romantic. One friend said it was the most beautiful “feeling” wedding they’ve
