Jaye and Rob's Heart Felt Backyard Wedding in New Jersey by Vanessa Joy

Today’s wedding was a hard one for me to put together. As soon as I was sent the photos I knew I had to feature it, however when I read the couples background I was left feeling incredibly sad. Jaye and Rob had been together for 10 years before they were married on 10th October 2020, they held their beautiful backyard wedding in Rob’s sisters garden in Freehold, New Jersey. Due to Covid they had an intimate number of 40 guests and due to Jaye’s cancer they planned it all in just 6 months. The day was everything that Jaye wanted, filled with her closest friends and family, a gorgeous autumn theme, warm homely touches, even their pets made an appearance. The whole day is pure wedding perfection, gorgeous details, gorgeous decoration and of course Jaye and Rob make an equally gorgeous couple. Massive thanks to Vanessa Joy for these beautiful images. Sadly in January 2022 Jaye lost her battle with cancer, which makes these photos even more poignant. My love and thoughts go out to Rob, who wanted their wedding story shared with the world.

Jaye and Rob were engaged during “the worst of times”. It was a global pandemic, and Jaye was fighting ovarian cancer. They let neither of these things ruin the most amazing time in their lives! They decided to do a backyard wedding with their closest family and friends on 10.10.2020 in Rob’s sister’s backyard in Freehold, NJ.

Their ceremony was short and sweet, and not a dry eye was to be found while they read their vows to one another, Jaye’s including the desire to grow old together. The tented wedding reception was full of little details about the two of them, like plaid that Jaye loves, the ceremony arch décor that Rob made by hand and mementos of their pets around as well.

They did get to celebrate their “big” wedding at the end of 2021 so all of their family and friends could dance the night away with them. Shortly after, on January 28, 2022, Jaye left this world. These wedding memories hold so much joy for Rob, and both of their families, looking back to what they now know were the best of times.
