Today, as it’s 14th February, we are celebrating Valentines day! Notoriously the most romantic day of the year, and a day filled with many possible proposals, I just love Valentines day. Later on this afternoon/evening, Nik, Dexter and I are going out for a Valentines day dinner to celebrate. Not epically romantic as it’s the 3 of us, but none-the-less it will be lovely to spend time with my boys! As for today on the blog, I am bringing you this fun filled red and pink Valentines day Inspiration shoot. Set in the prettiest cake shop, it is brimming with sweet treats, kitsch décor, beautiful flowers and the cutest couple. The shoot took place on 13th January 2023 at Loades of Cake and has been brought together by Sian Richardson Photo & Film.
Loades of Cake is a small family-run cake shop in Ramsey, Cambridgeshire filled with delicious goodies and a beautiful pink interior. As the colour palette for the shoot was pink and red it was the perfect backdrop to showcase an elopement-styled shoot. They also create beautifully themed afternoon teas featured in the shoot as well as the baked cookie favours and the bright pink wedding cake.
It was the location that sparked the idea for this shoot and using that as the pink backdrop pops of
red were styled throughout within the suit Ellie wore and the flowers.
Our inspiration was valentines and the colour palette – red and pinks and I really wanted to show how fun an elopement could be and the fact you can have your wedding pretty much anywhere these days so if you want it in a cake shop have it in a cake shop. Hearts were included in the favours as another nod to valentines.
This was a very small-scale shoot to showcase local suppliers in our area- no planner or stylist was
used and the stationery was a ready-made design from Wedding Avenue Studio but ordered through Zazzle on recycled material. We wanted to showcase what could be achieved even when you have a limited budget and I wanted to scream and shout about all the amazing local talent there is near me. I also wanted a shoot that celebrated diversity.
The candid shots are my favorite – they capture the genuine happiness and joy of the day.
