Anna and Ben’s DIY Back Garden Wedding in Oxfordshire by Nick Emm Wedding Photography

Today I am taking you to Oxfordshire for this gorgeous British DIY wedding. Anna and Ben lucked out on the weather, as they were treated to some gorgeous spring sunshine for their back garden wedding in Oxfordshire. They were lucky enough to be able to use Anna’s parents farm, where they put up a super cute marquee, dressed beautifully and let friends and family rally round in putting this wonderful day together. Anna looks stunning in her green sequin dress, super casual and relaxed, just like the rest of the day. Also fantastic to see an appearance from long time sponsor of the blog Disco Wed, so good to see our advertisers in situ! The guests sure do look they are enjoying themselves!  Big thanks to Oxfordshire Wedding Photographer – Nick Emm for the lovely photos.

A lovely, handcrafted wedding with family & friends on the farm which I grew up on. It was full of smiles, emotion, and good vibes. The weather was amazing to boot!

Anna and Ben were married on 28th May 2022 at Brackley Town Hall Oxfordshire for the ceremony with a Marquee at Anna’s parent’s farm where she grew up. ‘The connection with the venue and the opportunity to be creative and personalise the wedding was why we chose it, we had 130 guests and it took around a year to plan.’

How they met
We first met on the dating site, Bumble and then from there The Turf Tavern in Oxford.

The proposal
It wasn’t really a proposal per se. Ben told me he wanted to marry me while we were out collecting foliage for Christmas decorations, and I said I’d have a think about it.

How did you allocate your budget?
The biggest spend was on the marquee and food, the rest was mostly DIY which helped save money.

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We spent a fair amount on the on the food & saved on flowers and make up etc

How did you choose your photographer?
We found him on google and liked his natural documentary style

The dress
Dries Van Noten – Harvey Nichols

The suit and bridesmaids
Suit was existing & bridesmaid gowns from : Ganni – The Outnet

Theme or colour scheme
We wanted the day to be colourful and wild.

Flowers
A mix of natural wildflowers

Decoration
As much as possible was DIY I’d say. The table markers were different types of Bumble Bees.

Food
BBQ & Salads from the amazing Greens Catering in Chlagrove, with home made cupcakes for our wedding cake.

Entertainment
Local band with Ben (The Groom) on stage &  Paddy’s Disco Shed

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Corsica for 2 weeks of relaxing

Special moments
Anna: Definitely the Ceremony; Ben: walking from the ceremony to the reception, just the two of us

Advice for other couples
Keep it simple and have a good time

Biggest surprise
It was such a fun and emotional whirlwind of a day I was surprised it all went so fast!
