‘Summer in the City’ Vibrant Street Elopement Inspiration

Happy Monday everyone and happy supposedly ‘Freedom Day’ if you are in England. We are celebrating freedom day in isolation, as Nik tested positive for Covid on Friday! Oh the joy! So we have spent the weekend in different rooms of the house, trying to avoid each other while Dexter spent most of it in the paddling pool! Only another week to go!! Dexter now misses his last days at Infant school, before he moves on to Junior school and Nik and I miss the festival we had tickets for this weekend. Not ideal, but I guess it’s the same for so many people at the moment. So onwards and upwards, lets get on with today’s styled shoot! The shoot took place on 30th April 2021 at Kelham Island and Yellow Arch Studios in Sheffield. It’s a street elopement special, although having looked at these pictures you would be forgiven for thinking they were taken in Cuba! The images are vibrant, modern and really show off this particular spot in Sheffield perfectly. Yellow Arch Studios is where I’m holding my 50th birthday party next year, so it has a special place in my heart! I just love the simplicity of this shoot, the models and the locations really bring it to life! Big thanks to Hayley Gell Photography for the images.

A hot day in May it turned Kelham Island into a destination wedding, Cuban vibes… minimalistic city elopement shoot. The most incredibly beautiful couple in Claudia and Bentsil, their love and radiant smiles really made the whole day.

Hayley the photographer tells us more about the shoot

This was a workshop created by Jen from My Prettiest Workshops. I was drawn to the shoot as first based in Sheffield (the best place ever). I also search for shoots like this to add a better representation to my portfolio, I think its incredibly important to diversify your portfolio and celebrate all types of people. The whole vibe of the shoot was modern love in the city. Simple but eye-catching outfits and a bright popping bouquet from Emma at The Petal Studio was all that was needed against the vibrant city.

As this was a workshop, I wasn’t the inspiration behind it but I loved the minimalist look to the shoot. Claudia looked incredible with thanks to the makeup skills of Charlotte Millander MUA, and the super cool jumpsuit provided by E&W Couture.

I got a great set of images from this shoot, it has destination vibes and show cases off Kelham Island and how beautiful it can look. Kelham Island is a sort after location within Sheffield for wedding couples. Well known for its vibrant graffiti and street art, every wall is a photo opportunity. The whole mood of the day was just so much fun, the sun shone on us that day and if I didn’t know better, I would easily believe we got our travel on!
