Happy Monday to everyone! to ease you into the week, I have a lovely summery wedding to share with you today. It was sent in to me by Katharine from Peachey Photography who is based in London. It’s the wedding of Rachel and Pete Tuson who were married on 6th August 2011. The ceremony was at Our Lady Help of Christians Blackheath and the reception was in a marquee at Honnington Farm Gardens, Southborough. They had 120 guests for the day then about 200 for the evening reception. It took exactly a year to plan the wedding.
It’s a great wedding, which has been excellently captured by Katharine, the weather was extremely kind to them and the low lite summer shots are just beautiful. I am loving the location, what beautiful place for a marquee! Rachel looks stunning and I am also loving the bridesmaids dresses from Top Shop!………….and you have to read the proposal story! how romantic!
Rachel and Pete describe their wedding as ‘Full of family, friends and lots of laughter. The day couldn’t have been more perfect’
How they met.
We met on our first day at uni – Pete was placed in halls with one of my best friends from school! We’ve been together nine years.
The proposal
It was amazing! On the pretence of work, Pete drove us to Folkestone, where we took the Channel Tunnel and travelled to Champagne, somewhere we had visited before and loved. We checked in to our beautiful hotel, where they upgraded us to their best room… I was concerned that I did not have anything with me for a weekend away but Pete reassured me that he had packed a suitcase for me – which actually worried me even more! But when I opened up the suitcase it was full of new clothes – everything I would need for the weekend away!
Next, we drove into the vineyards where we hopped over a fence to find a good spot for a picnic… After eating Pete got down on one knee and proposed – very romantic indeed! We then popped open a bottle of champagne to celebrate…
Later that night we had a table booked at a restaurant nearby. When we arrived, I had another surprise as some of our friends were there waiting to celebrate with us!
The Venue
We chose the church as it was very beautiful and traditional. We chose the reception venue as it had very few limitations. We could bring in all our own suppliers and really make the day personal to us. Plus the gardens were stunning!
The dress
My dress was by Pronovias, my shoes were Kurt Geiger and my earrings were Oriental Pearl.
The suit and Bridesmaids
The suits were hired from Cheeks of Bexley, the boys cravats were ordered from eBay. The bridesmaids dresses were originally bought from Topshop and altered by my mum.
Theme
A romantic, vintage feel.
Food
We had lovely canapés alongside pink prosecco and Pimms on arrival, a delicious barbecue followed by strawberries and cream for the wedding breakfast and a hog roast later in the evening,
Entertainment
We had a live band who were fantastic!
Flowers
Roses in lovely vintage-y colours.
Decoration
Lots of flowers and candelabras. Our very talented florist draped the flowers and trailed ivy around the candelabras to make very beautiful centrepieces.
Personal touches
-Our favours, invitations, orders of service, place names and table names were all home made.
-We made little gift bags for the children
-My mum made the table plan, which was printed up on canvas
-The bridesmaids’ dresses were altered and added to by my mum.
Special moments
-Sitting in the car after the ceremony and realising we were actually husband and wife! —-Being introduced into the reception by the toast master to everyone’s applause.
-Our first dance.
-All the tables popping open the champagne corks together for the toasts (and a couple that popped prematurely!)
Planning advice
Aim to have as little as possible to do on the day before the wedding so that you have some time to relax (and drink a glass or two of champagne!)
Biggest surprise
Hmmm… Being told on arrival to our reception that our wedding cake had been smooshed in transit! And even more surprisingly, really not caring!

Venue and couple look great. Marque looks super in the surroundings. Photography suites the environment well. Pictures of boys learning how to put ties on is always a must have.
Ohhh it is lovely!! You can’t beat a relax country wedding!! And those dresses are beautiful, lovely lovely wedding x
Ahh so classy!
I love pronovias dresses and this one is stunning, and really suits the brides look.
Gorgeous venue especially the flowers and decor XxX
So much prettiness and what a beautiful couple! Let me start with THOSE shoes…! They look stunning! The kind of shoes that makes a woman feel one million dollar! Gorgeous!
I’m loving the decor and the setting. The fields full of pretty flowers make such a beautiful backdrop for a marquee wedding. And lastly, well, the dress… You know what I love about it? It’s modest and romantic. Modest in the sense that doesn’t show a lot of flesh and yet it makes this beautiful bride look so so feminine (I don’t like the word sexy in wedding contex)… I love a bride that does feminine, romantic and contemporary in an understated way.
Well done to this gorgeous couple!
Gorgeous wedding, love the feel of these photos
The wildflower gardens are my favorite ….ooh I just love the tranquil pond under the bridge.
Fab venue – this is really near to where I live :)
I love the bride’s dress and her hairstyle too – so elegant :)
