Michele and Frank’s Pampas Grass Filled Wedding at Home in Texas by Brittany Partain Photography

The last year has been tough for the wedding industry, which is why I just love receiving weddings that have still gone ahead despite Covid and the many restrictions it has brought upon us. Michele and Frank are such a couple who planned one wedding, only to have to cancel it and move to Plan B. Luckily, Plan B was a backyard wedding in their parents garden in Texas and still allowed 80 guests to attend…not too shabby for a Covid wedding! They concentrated on keeping their guests fed and watered to a high standard and made the most of being able to see their nearest and dearest, something that Covid has taught us is such a blessing. The whole wedding is filled with an abundance of pampas grass and looks superb. Michele and Frank’s wedding turned out better than they could ever imagine and really is an absolute beauty of a day. Big thanks to Brittany Partain Photography for the beautiful images.

Our wedding day was joyful. Seeing family and friends after a long time made the day a million times more special.

Michele and Frank were married on 10th October 2020at the Brides parents house in Texas. ‘We originally wanted to get married in Washington State, but we had to cancel due to Covid. My mom lives on a beautiful piece of land in Texas and it was the perfect venue. It meant a lot getting married at home. We had a total of 80 guests. Once we had to change the venue, it took us around 5 months to plan.’

How they met
Frank and I met in college. We both went to Texas Tech. We have been together for a total of 3 1/2 years.

The proposal
Frank proposed at his apartment in Savannah, GA. He asked me to dance to our favorite song and then popped the question. It was very intimate and special.

How did you allocate your budget?
Since we didn’t have to pay for our venue we decided to focus on what our guests would like most. Alcohol and food!

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We’d definitely splurged on food and alcohol. We also really wanted nice photos and a video. I think splurging on that was the most important! We saved a lot of money on decor and florals.

How did you choose your photographer?
I searched for many photographers in college station and I came across Brittany’s profile. I absolutely loved her style. I also love how natural her photos look. I really like the candid photography as well she truly is an amazing photographer.

The dress
Essence of Australia. I bought my shoes at Macy’s and my Jewlery from olive and piper!

The suit and bridesmaids
My husband got his suit from a small boutique in WA and my bridesmaids got to choose their own dresses. Most were from lulus

Theme or colour scheme
I went for very light colors! I had taupe, ivory, and a lot of neutral tones. The pampas grass made everything so beautiful.

Flowers
I bought all of my flowers from Etsy. They are all dried flowers!

Decoration
We have bubble glass with pampas grass!

Food
We had chicken, pork, and a vegetable lasagna.

Wedding cake
My best friend Kaitlyn made the wedding cake. A white almond cake with buttercream frosting and assorted fruit at the top.

Entertainment
We had a DJ! Part loud events was our DJ

Where are you going on your honeymoon?
We still haven’t picked out honeymoon location due to Covid! Hopefully somewhere tropical!

Personal touches
I added feathers to my bouquets, just because haha!

Special moments
My dad and little sister surprised me with a dance and it was incredible. Also, all of the speeches were so heartfelt.

Advice for other couples
Enjoy the little moments on your wedding day! If mistakes happen, move on! It’s a perfect imperfect day.
