Cocktails for Every Wedding Season! – It’s a Merry Christmas Cocktail

If you are anything like me you will LOVE a cocktail! I just adore it when a bride and groom has their own signature cocktail at their wedding. A his and her cocktail is always a great touch and a great way to add some glamour and a bit of fun into your wedding reception. Christmas and cocktails go hand in hand, so the guys at Elmore Court have been kind enough to share with us some of their favourite cocktail recipes and pair them up to a season. No matter when your wedding is there will be the perfect cocktail for you. So get stuck into our selection of delicious cocktails, just call it wedding research!

It’s the most wonderful time of year, for a cocktail party! December is full of glamorous black tie weddings, candlelit Christmas ceremonies and sparkling new year’s eve cocktail weddings. Now weddings will be back to normal we thought we’d celebrate and get in the mood with a little cocktail party.

So pull up a seat at the bar and join us in taste testing the best wedding cocktails and signature drinks for all seasons…

Winter wedding cocktails

For a magical winter wedding you can’t go wrong with sequins and cocktails. Those long nights are just made for dressing up, twinkling lights, good music, good friends and dancing.

Our favourite winter spirit has got to be Gin, so we’ve chosen a Gin based cocktail as our signature winter wedding drink…

Bramble

  • Gin
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Sugar syrup
  • Shake over ice and serve with crushed ice.

Drizzle creme de mure over the top and garnish with lemon slice and a blackberry.

Cocktail for a Spring wedding?

With a nip still in the air we’ve chosen something with a bit of warmth and equally deliciously refreshing for Spring;

Moscow Mule

  • Vodka
  • Freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Ginger beer

Serve over ice with a lime wedge and mint

The perfect summer wedding cocktail

It’s got to be fresh strawberries for summer! A delicious ice cold daiquiri is just what’s needed to get that summer wedding cocktail party started

Strawberry Daiquiri

  • Fresh strawberries
  • White sugar
  • White rum
  • Freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Strawberry liqueur

Mash in the base of a cocktail shaker.  Add ice and shake. Strain and serve with a strawberry garnish.

Signature autumn wedding cocktail

Our choice for Autumn has to be whisky, and with a perfectly balanced sweet and sour flavour this cocktail classic is wonderfully suited to that mid-point between summer and winter;

Whisky Sour

  • Bourbon
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Sugar syrup
  • Egg white
  • Angostura bitters

Combine and shake without ice.  Add ice and then shake again.  Serve on the rocks with a slice of orange and a cherry.

Our favourite cocktails for any time of year?

Well our number one go to for any time of day or night (or the very wee hours of the morning!) has to be the Espresso martini. You could call it our signature drink. It’s the perfect start to a party, and pick me up half way through!

The vodka we would use would be Sapling as their ethos is perfectly on par with our own- made in London with local ingredients and it’s carbon zero as they plant trees to offset their usage!! Brilliant.

Espresso Martini (all seasons, all the time…always!!!!!!!)

  • Vodka
  • Coffee liqueur
  • Sugar syrup
  • Coffee

Shake over ice and serve with coffee bean garnish.

Another we could just keep on sipping is the classic Negroni (we really do have a thing for Gin- have you seen our range behind the bar??)

Negroni

  • Campari
  • Martini Rosso
  • Tanqueray 10 Gin

Pour over ice and serve with a slice of orange and stir.

So what do you think? Do any of these take your fancy, or are you going to slowly work your way through all of them (drinking responsibly of course!) to make your mind up? Cheers to you and a very Merry Christmas!
