Ash and Arran’s Stunning Intimate Thailand Wedding in a Cave by Dan Morris

Hello Tuesday and how are you? For those of you in the UK, at last we got some good news yesterday. Lockdown will end next week and we are all back to the Tier system. Which means that weddings can go ahead again! Woo hoo!! Thank goodness all you engaged couples out there can start planning your celebrations again, which is such a relief. OK it may only be for 15 guests for now, but it’s better than no wedding at all. Plus it looks like you’ll be OK to plan your party for later on in the year, once the vaccine has been rolled out! So with that in mind lets take a look at Ash and Arran’s gorgeous intimate Thailand Wedding. With a guest count of 40, this intimate wedding is a real stunner. It has the most amazing backdrop and a reception in a cave. Yes a cave! It’s breathtaking ! Big thanks to Destination Wedding Photographer – Dan Morris for the images.

Perfect! It couldn’t have been any better. The location was breathtaking, the venue was exceptional start to finish and every single guest had an awesome time!

Arran and Ash were married on 10th July 2019 at Rayavadee Resort, Krabi in Thailand. ‘Our love for Thailand has been strong since our first visit in 2015, then we got engaged in Thailand also, so it made sense to have the big day in our favourite county. We had 40 guests and it took a year to plan.’

How they met
We met at school and we have been together for 10 years now.

The proposal
I had planned it as a complete surprise. We had planned a trip back to Thailand and knew that would be the perfect opportunity. I arranged for some photographs to be taken and popped the question at the Sri Panwa Resort in Phuket. Again, this was perfect!

How did you allocate your budget?
We didn’t really have one. We just found what we wanted and paid for it. We only wanted a small wedding all at the one location

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
Honestly we saved a lot of money purely and simply by having the wedding in Thailand. I won’t mention figures but it was literally half the cost of what we priced in the UK.

How did you choose your photographer?
We saw Dan’s work online, I contacted him through a photography page and we became friends. He is, in my opinion, one of the best photographers in the UK at this moment in time so it was an obvious choice for me. On top of the fact he is awesome at what he does, he’s also one of the nicest guys you could ever meet!

The dress
Daytime/ceremony dress – Morilee. Shorter/Evening dress – Wed2B. Head dress – Wed2B

The suit and bridesmaids
Bridesmaid dresses – Wed2B. Suits – Next. Bridemsaid headdresses – handmade by Bride

Theme or colour scheme
The venue itself was absolutely stunning with the greens and blues so we didn’t want to have too many decorations to take away from it. We had light blue suits to tie in with the backdrop, and pastel purple and blue bridesmaid dresses.

Flowers
The bridesmaids wore faux flower headbands made by the bride and the resort handled the floral decorations as we chose the package we wanted, they done the rest. Amazing service.

Decoration
We didn’t need lots of decoration when the backdrop is Krabi in all of its glory.

Food
We had the most amazing buffet style meal with far too much to mention. That was also amazing.

Entertainment
We had a DJ and kept it super simple, the wedding was held in a cave so we just needed music and a few drinks and then let everyone enjoy the location in their own way.

Who supplied the stationery?
All invitations/name tags etc were made by the bride.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We travelled around Asia. Thailand, Bali, HongKong, Chiang Mai, Philippines to name a few places.

Personal touches
Ashley made the bridesmaid headdress and hoops that they held.

Special moments
It’s hard to pinpoint one aspect of such an awesome day. But I would have to say the moment I saw Ash at the end of the aisle for the first time! Something I’ll never forget. I’m not a crier but wow, I sobbed like a baby. It’s amazing to have photographs to look back on that catch all of the emotion and the story of the day.

Advice for other couples
Don’t put so much emphasis on the fluff of a wedding! Decorations look great, expensive dresses and suits are lovely but honestly, choose and amazing place to get married, choose the people who mean the most to you and just enjoy the day! It shouldn’t be a show off party, more a celebration between you and your partner.

Biggest surprise
How much I cried when Ashley walked down the aisle
