Rosie and Nick’s Modern Jewel Toned and Geometric Wedding by Riane Roberts Photography

Today I am taking you off to Phoenix, Arizona for the super stylish and modern winter wedding of Rosie and Nick. It may be January when they got married but they still had great weather. Nothing like a January wedding here in the UK! Lots of lovely golden sunshine and not a drop of rain or snow! They chose Events On Jackson as their wedding venue and with its exposed brick and modern architecture it gave the perfect backdrop to their edgy, stylish wedding. With jewel tones-a-plenty in the flowers, bridal party outfits, stationery and decor, this wedding is oozing personality and lots of on-trend geometric touches. Big thanks to Riane Roberts Photography  for catching the day so perfectly.

The wedding was magical. It was tailored to exactly who we are as people, our love, and our family.

Rosie and Nick were married on 19th January 2019 at Events on Jackson in Phoenix Arizona. ‘Nick and Rosie chose Events on Jackson because it complimented their eclectic, stylish, and edgy style. They had around 120 guests and it took a year to plan.’

How they met
From the bride: “Nick and I met years ago, just fresh out of high school. He sang in the band my buddy was in. We were really just acquaintances. We lost touch for nearly 15 years before he added me on Facebook. At this point I as living in Denver CO and he was still in Phoenix, AZ. After several months we started to catch up with each others lives over the years through messaging each other on Facebook.  Next thing we know we are dating long distance, seeing each other every 6 weeks or so. We dated long distance for the first year of our relationship. This was perfect for us because he was still healing from his divorce and I was doing the same from a long term relationship. Slow was what we needed… and strong communication. After a year, I moved to Arizona to be with him and his two children. Two and a half years after that, we were married!”

The proposal
Nick and Rosie planned a hike with their kids near Camelback Mountain in AZ. While on the trail, Nick surprised Rosie with a proposal by having the kids hold up signs saying, “Marry” and “Me” while she wasn’t looking. He also hired a photographer who kept a discrete presence until Nick popped the question. Rosie was definitely surprised!

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
Nick and Rosie splurged on the desserts and entertainment, which included a 3-tier cake, donut wall, photo booth, live band, and a surprise appearance from a real donkey during cocktail hour!

How did you choose your photographer?
Nick and Rosie found Riane online and fell in love with her bright style, and ability to capture candid moments!

The dress
And your accessories and shoes?: Dress is by Casa Blanca Bridal via Grace Style and Bridal, shoes from Michael Kors. Just for fun, Rosie threw on a customized Topshop leather jacket while taking their bridal portraits.

The suit and bridesmaids
Nick wore a navy Men’s Wearhouse suit embellished with a pin of his favorite superhero (Spiderman!), and a burgundy pocket square, tie and VANS shoes. The bridesmaids wore burgundy and teal dresses from Lulu’s and Show Me Your Mumu.

Theme or colour scheme
Edgy with jewel tones

Flowers
Rosie wore a flower crown with greenery and deep red roses. Her bouquet consisted of white anenomes, deep fuscia roses, blue star sea hollys and heather evergreen shurbs. The bridesmaids’ bouquets and reception flowers carried the same theme throughout.

Decoration
Besides florals, Nick and Rosie had giant light up letters spelling out “LOVE”, and the best part- a hexagonal arch with a calligraphed cloth backdrop with their favourite passage, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. The venue didn’t need a ton of décor, as it was beautiful by itself, with exposed brick, unique steel light fixtures, and a greenery wall.

Food
Catering was pizza from the amazing Il Bosco!

Wedding cake
The wedding cake was a 3-tier yellow cake with vanilla buttercream!

Entertainment
Yes, a live band!

Who supplied the stationery?
Minted

Special moments
Nick and Rosie simply enjoyed getting to marry each other, surrounded by the people they love.

Advice for other couples
Have fun with the planning, and don’t be afraid to go out of the box and make your wedding suit you and your personal style!

Biggest surprise
How smoothly everything went. Sometimes planning can be stressful, but seeing the day come together was worth it!
