Happy Wednesday everyone and how is your week going so far? I hope it has...
Today we are talking bridal style with the wonderful Kelly Faetanini. Kelly Faetanini is a New York based bridal designer who has been designing modern, elegant bridal gowns since 2012. With classic silhouettes, elegant lines, lace detailing and stylish, timeless designs, Kelly Faetanini is a designer for the romantic, fresh bride, looking for something modern, yet sophisticated. Her new Marilyn Collection has just launched and is available to buy across many worldwide locations including the two Ellie Sanderson stores in the UK. I think you will love these gowns, but don’t take my word for it, here are a selection of gowns for the new Marilyn collection, along with some of the others available from Ellie Sanderson.
Kelly Faetanini discovered the world of weddings at the young age of 18. Learning to sew from her grandmother, she knew it was her calling in life. Being a wedding dress designer was a way to touch women around the world. At the age of 19, Faetanini created and sold her first wedding gown to a bride in Chicago.
Faetanini became an assistant designer at the renowned Priscilla of Boston bridal brand in her early twenties. However, she knew she had so much more to offer. At the age of 23, Faetanini became the youngest wedding gown designer on the runway at New York Bridal Fashion Week. But very quickly realized that she never wanted to just design wedding gowns. It was so much more than that. She wanted to make a difference and create an impact.
In 2012, Faetanini knew it was time to step up and create a brand that truly cared about each and every one of their brides and not just the “sale” of the dress. Anyone can design and sell wedding gowns. But not everyone has the heart and soul with the intentions the way that we do. We welcome you to the Kelly Faetanini family with honesty, trust and an unparalleled customer experience
Where are you based? And how long have you been designing for?
We are based in the heart of NYC. Our design studio is in Bryant Park in midtown Manhattan. I learned to sew from my grandmother and knew from a young age it was my calling in life. I went to design school in Chicago and sold my first wedding dress at the age of 19. I started my own collection in 2012.
Where can they be ordered/purchased?
You can purchase through any of our retailer partners located across the US and internationally in London at Ellie Sanderson (both locations), Germany, Ireland, China, Japan, and Korea.
Can you tell me a bit more about the new collection?
Our latest collection, the Spring 2020 Marilyn Collection is inspired by Old Hollywood glamour and decades past. The Marilyn Collection embodies the romantic stylings of Marilyn Monroe and her femme friends. With a vintage redux that incorporates luxe fabrics and intricate textile designs, you’ll find muted gold brocade fabric and unique laces done in new ways. The Spring 2020 collection is sexy—and timeless with a twist.
What were the main influences when designing it?
My main influences when designing the Marilyn Collection include Marilyn Monroe herself—we even have a “Monroe” gown, which is the namesake of the collection. It’s a gorgeous soft, muted gold brocade strapless fitted gown that has a detachable train. It’s super regal, but not over the top. I was also inspired by vintage Dior and other Haute Couture designers thinking about the red carpet through the 50s and 60s.
