Kelly and Mark’s Beautifully Stylish Environmentally Friendly Outdoor Wedding by Raluca Rodila Photography
Happy Friday everyone, and how are you all? I hope you have had a good...
Today I am taking you off to one of the most beautiful wedding locations and a place I would really like to visit, Thailand. I have featured Phuket quite a few times on the blog now, as I get sent a lot of submissions from the lovely people at Wedding Boutique Phuket, who are expert wedding planners. Today’s wedding of Emma and Dominic, is no exception. It’s totally stunning and beautifully put together by Ilaire and her team. After spending many holidays in Thailand this gorgeous couple decided that it was the perfect location for their wedding. They chose a minimalist theme, and married it with accents of copper, shades of blue and filled it with lots of greenery. The results are a totally beautiful beach side location, followed by a super stylish reception with some of the most gorgeous details and decorations. I just love this wedding, I hope you do too.
Emma and Dominic were married on 31st March 2019 at Sala Resort, Phuket. ‘We didn’t want a traditional wedding, and we love the beach. We’ve been on holiday together to Thailand a number of times before and so it was a special place for both of us. We went to Sala one night for dinner and just loved the food and the setting of the hotel. It’s in a national park by a beautiful, unspoilt beach. The service we received from the team at Sala was fantastic, they went far beyond our expectations, were so accommodating and made our whole time there such an amazing experience. We had about 50 guests and it took about a year to plan.’
How they met
We’ve been together for 10 years, and met when we were backpacking in South America.
Walking along the coast in Dorset at Christmas time, in a place very special to me. Took me completely by surprise!
How did you allocate your budget?
We came up with a budget for each part of the wedding individually and then added it all together. We had to make some tweaks of course but Ilaire our wedding planner helped us understand where we needed to spend and where she could help us save.
Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We splurged on food and drink over the course of the event, including a dessert bar (we have no regrets!) We tried to find a balance by keeping decorations and flowers simple yet beautiful and luckily one of our family DJ’d which also helped!
How did you choose your photographer?
We met Janis Krakops for a coffee in London (after a bit of internet research…). We just really liked the feel of his shots.
Dress was by Donatella Picarretta, bought at a great little Italian boutique in London called Rock&Lace. Shoes were Espadrille Wedges (perfect for walking on the beach) by ForeverSoles on Etsy.
Theme or colour scheme
Minimalist with Copper, Blue and lots of greenery
Our wedding planner Ilaire created the most beautiful ceremony using pampas grass, palm leaves, white flowers such as Lily, Roses, Orchids, Lisanthius, succulents airplants, and a touch of Blue Thistles. My bouquet was stunning, with Lily, Roses, Orchids, Wild Flowers, Blue Thistles and a big succulent airplant, tied with long blue shades silk ribbons.
I loved the greenery and candles down the aisle as well as the signs for the tables named after Thai islands, each of those was different from another and hand sketched. Loved the geometric copper decors with airplants hanging from the ceiling, the Copper and Blue Colored special mise en place for the Couple, The bulb lights outside for cocktails made it look beautiful too!
The food was incredible; the head chef Tony and his team at the Sala are amazing. They were happy to spend time with us designing our bespoke menu. We started with canapes and cocktails on the lawn, followed by a mix of thai and western food and an amazing dessert bar!
Chef Tony was kind enough to make our wedding cake, which was delicious. It was beautifully decorated by Ilaire who tied it in with our theme. A simple blueberry cheesecake along with other yummy desserts!
A local artist Khun Bank played live guitar for us during cocktails and we were lucky enough to have our brother in law DJ for the evening.
We wrote welcome cards for all of the guests when they arrived along with welcome tote bags which we designed with Ilaire. We included some local treats (dried mango) and useful items like mosquito spray. We also bought fans to help with the heat which we stamped with our names and date as a keepsake. Ilaire also sourced luggage tags on which we had our guests’ names embossed and we used these as both the name cards for dinner and favours for guests.
The setting Ilaire created for our ceremony on the beach was beautiful, and walking down the aisle is a moment I will remember forever. Our dessert bar was also a highlight for sure! The following day, the hotel also organised a movie night for us by the pool and provided popcorn and drinks, a great way for us to relax with our guests.
Overall, our wedding day and wedding style was incredible and went perfectly thanks to our wedding planner Ilaire and her team. We didn’t have to worry about a thing and could really relax and enjoy the day as they managed everything so smoothly.
Advice for other couples
When planning and spending, focus on the important parts of the day that you and your guests will remember.
