Jessica and Jake’s ‘Simplistic Bohemian’ White and Peach Glass House Wedding by Zanda Photography

Happy Friday everyone, and how are you all? Are you enjoying the sunshine? How lovely is it to at last get some good weather, it’s been an absolute delight these past few days. Today is Dexter’s sports day at school. It’s his first ever sports day so he has been super excited so I hope he does well! This weekend we will be enjoying the good weather, firstly at a mini music festival on Saturday and then Sunday a family fun farm day. I’m looking forward to some chilled out time in the fresh air with my gorgeous family, what about you? what does your weekend entail? Today it’s the turn of the gorgeous Jessica and Jake to share their amazing New Zealand wedding with us. They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony, followed by a super stylish reception in a Glass House. The whole day looks amazing, the simplistic nature of the decor really enhances the New Zealand backdrop, the glass reception area and of course the lovely ceremony area. It’s all just so picture perfect. Big thanks to Zanda Photography for capturing the day so perfectly.

It really was the best day eve! We were able to celebrate our love with the people in our lives that we love and cherish.

Jessica and Jake were married on 16th February 2019 at Te Whai Bay Wines, Mangawhai, New Zealand. ‘We chose to get married in Mangawhai as it is one of our favourite places to escape to in the Summertime. We liked the idea of getting married in a beautiful setting surrounded by nature. When we found Te Whai Bay Wines we knew it was the perfect spot for our Wedding, it is a beautiful vineyard surrounded by rolling hills, we had 98 guests. It took around a year to plan. I started the process soon after we were engaged so I could get most of the big planning done then I could relax leading up until our wedding. I enjoyed planning our wedding so much that it inspired me to create my own event planning & styling company Boheme Events.’

How they met
Jake and I met through friends and then started dating years later, we have been together for over three years. These years have been the best years of our lives.

The proposal
Jake proposed to me on Dream Beach located on Nusa Lembongan Island in Bali. We were about to go for a swim in the ocean and then he got down on one knee. It was the most beautiful and happy moment which we will look back on for years to come.

How did you allocate your budget?
Once the venue, catering and other big wedding costs were booked everything it made it easier to then work all other elements fit within the budget. My advice to brides to be planning a DIY wedding would be to research, you can save a lot of money by finding the perfect vendors to work with instead of going with the first quotation you receive.

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We splurged on the more important elements of the wedding such the venue, catering, the dress etc. We saved on the décor and styling as we did it all our selves as we knew we could achieve the look we wanted by DIYing.

How did you choose your photographer?
The moment I saw Zanda from Zanda Photography’s work I fell in love. For us we wanted natural, candid and relaxed wedding photographs and Zanda’s work was exactly that. She is highly skilled and captured every beautiful moment from our wedding perfectly, we will cherish our wedding photos for years to come!

The Dress
My dress was designed by Truvelle, handmade in Vancouver. I wore Zoe & Morgan earrings and a Nikki Witt gold headband, a pearl bracelet made from my great grandmother pearls and Steve Madden heels

The suit and bridesmaids
Jakes outfit was from Barkers and Bridesmaid dresses from The Iconic & Show Po

Theme or colour scheme
The theme of our wedding was simplistic with a bohemian twist. The colour scheme was greenery, white and hints of peachy tones.

Flowers
My bridal bouquet and the bridesmaids bouquets were a combination of beautiful white and peach blooms mixed with wild flowers and greenery to create a wild, bohemian look. She also created a beautiful corner arrangement on our rustic wooden wedding arch.

Decoration
As our reception was in the beautiful glass pavilion at Te Whai Bay we kept it simple and had olive greenery running down each long table and also had some hanging greenery hoops which looked great. In the ceremony and cocktail hour area we handmade wooden signage, a tee pee style photo booth and pampas grass dotted down the wedding isle which added a nice natural feel to the day,

Food
We had a delicious grazing table created by some family members during cocktail hour and a gourmet barbeque buffet for dinner.

Wedding cake
We had a three-tier wedding cake with buttercream icing created by Tea & Tarte, we couldn’t decide on a flavour so we picked three! We have banana chocolate chip, vanilla and butter scotch, which was delicious.

Entertainment
We had our very talented friends sing and play us down the isle to one of our favourite songs “The Girl” by City and Colour which was very special. We also had Andi from Folky Tunes play throughout cocktail hour, having live music really set the tone for the day. It was great to soak up the sun and the great music with a drink in hand post ceremony with our nearest and dearest.

Who supplied the stationery?
Our wedding invites were by Savvy Bride Stationary Boutique on Etsy. And the seating plan and name settings were designed by Black Bow Studio boutique on Etsy.

Personal touches
I absolutely loved styling our wedding, so we could add personal touches throughout our day.

Advice to other couples
Soak up every moment of your special day and try to take a moment just you and you partner away from the party to reflect on how amazing the day has been and how lucky you are to have one another.

Special moments
The moment when we had just got married, walking back down the isle hand in hand with my husband and seeing all our friends of family there to celebrate us was a very special moment. Another highlight was when Jake and I snuck away from our wedding reception with our photographer to take some sunset shots. It was nice to take a moment to step away and reflect on what an amazing day it had been whilst the sun was setting.

Biggest surprise
How many people traveled from afar to be there with us on our special day
