Perrie and Gregg’s Sheffield Loving Museum Wedding by Dan Hough

Happy Monday everyone and how was your weekend? Full of festive cheer I hope! Mine was lovely. I had a night out with some mum friends on Friday night, Saturday I took Dexter to York for a Christmas sleigh ride experience, and yesterday went to another Christmas event with some friends and their children. A perfect Christmas weekend!
I have a jam-packed week of weddings and wedding articles for you this week, starting off with this gorgeous wedding from my home town of Sheffield. Kelham Island Museum is a popular spot in Sheffield, I have featured many a wedding from here, my brother-in-law got married here as well a couple of years ago, so it has a special place in my heart! Perrie and Gregg used to visit the museum as children, so it was the obvious choice when they were looking for suitable venues. Big thanks to Dan Hough for the gorgeous photos.

A relaxed day celebrating all things Sheffield, followed by a huge party

Perrie and Gregg were married on 6th October 2018 at Kelham Island Museum in Sheffield. ‘We love Sheffield, it’s architecture and history. We have visited the museum as children and it was a no brainer when we were deciding on a venue. We had 66 guest in the day and 250 at night. We got engaged on 17th September 2017 so just under a year.’

How they met
We met in town on a night out. We have known each other 10 years but been together 5. It turns out Gregg worked for my (Perrie) uncle, which we didn’t know about until a few months of knowing each other.

The proposal
It was our anniversary, we had just bought a house and moved in together. We were going out for a meal and as we were leaving, Gregg got down on one knee in the kitchen. I’d always said I’d hate a public proposal so it was romantic in our own way.

How did you allocate your budget?
We did get gifted money from our parents and grandparents and then worked out what we could afford. We did make things ourselves and sourced ideas off Pinterest etc.

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We made most of our own decorations. We started buying little bits every month up to the wedding to spread the cost. We spent a lot on our photographer and videographer as we wanted them to be perfect.

How did you choose your photographer?
I found him on Instagram. I had been talking to lots of photographers and I just clicked with Dan. I loved all of his work and he was so friendly and put us at ease. The thought of having our photos taken all day was our worst nightmare but we really enjoyed it.

The dress
It was by Alex Veil (etsy) they were amazing. I loved different bits of each of their dresses and so they made one bespoke to me. It can be scary ordering from a different country without seeing it but it was perfect. My shoes were louboutins, a present from my mum.

The suit and bridesmaids
Greggs suit was from next and shoes ASOS. Bridesmaid dresses boohoo.com and shoes new look

Theme or colour scheme?
Our venue spoke for itself. We just tried to compliment the museum.

Flowers
I went for colours rather than flowers. Early October meant the flowers I wanted weren’t in season. So I asked for dark greens, plums and dusky pink to match Greggs suit and the bridesmaids.

Decoration
We had a lot of lights and flowers. The rest were just bits we already had in our house. My uncle made our wedding arch which we used as a backdrop to our ‘photobooth’.

Food
Pie and peas with mash, gravy and Henderson’s relish. We had a big roast later in the evening.

Wedding cake
Marks and Spencers cake. One tier Victoria sponge and the other was chocolate.

Entertainment
DJ was Tom Hardwick who DJs around local bars and clubs in Sheffield, as well as weddings.

Who supplied the stationery?
Our invitations were from vistaprint and our signs and seating plan were from zazzle.com

Personal touches
We made our own signs for the table names. Our name places, cake topper, napkins and beer mats were from confetti.com

Special moments
The sun came out and we were able to roam around outside as well as throughout the museum. We loved using the pub for our reception drinks then walked through a cobbled street within the museum. We had a different room for each stage of the day.

Advice for other couples
Spend 10mins away from everyone to have a moment to yourselves. Enjoy every minute, try not to stress. What will happen will happen. Choose your perfect photographer / videographer. You will capture the day perfectly for life.

Biggest surprise
Our little cousins popped up at the end of the aisle as we were announced Mr & Mrs with lyrics to Greggs favourite band The Beatles in signs which was really cute.
