Lee and Ryan’s ‘Gold Sequins and Pink Flowers’ Cool Hackney Wedding by Keepsake Wedding photography

Hello Friday! And how are you all today! I am in a very good mood as I am actually going out this evening! Child free with my husband, this NEVER happens, so I am super excited! We are going out to a club with a few friends, so I’m dusting off my dancing shoes and digging out my favourite sequins for a night on the dance floor! The rest of the weekend will be spent adorning our house with Christmas decorations, putting our tree up and attending a Victorian Christmas market! What about you? Talking about sequins, today’s wedding features the BEST brides outfit I have seen in a long time. Lee is rocking the most stunning Temperly Gold sequin jumpsuit and she looks AMAZING!! I just love the whole look of the wedding, it’s cool, laid back, effortless and looks like lots of fun! Big thanks to Keepsake Wedding photography for the images. Have a great weekend everyone.

A cliché but it was the best day of our lives full of love & laughter. It was magic to have everyone you love in the same room.

Lee and Ryan were married on 28th July 2018 at Stoke Newington Town hall & Hackney city farm. ‘We knew we wanted it to be somewhere in Hackney, where we live. We wanted to be somewhere that was relaxed and unfussy. Hackney city farm is used for lots of different events and activities for the community as well as having a great restaurant. We had 70 guests in the day and another 50 for the evening. We pulled it all together in about 6 months, we weren’t engaged for very long.’

How they met
We met on Tinder, v. modern! And we’ve been together 5 years

The proposal
Ryan proposed on Boxing day, we went out running in Scotland near my Mum’s house to one of my favourite places by the river tweed. When we got to the bridge across the river Ryan has run ahead and tripped over, holding his ankle in pain. I thought he’d broken it. As I got closer he swivelled round on one knee and was holding a ring. It really shocked me, I couldn’t stop laughing.

How did you allocate your budget?
We prioritised putting most of the money towards the drink, food & venue.

How did you choose your photographer?
Emma & Jimmy took the photographs at my best friends wedding and we thought they were amazing

The Dress
I wore a gold sequined jumpsuit by Alice Temperley. I was lucky to get it online in the January sales and by some chance it fitted straight away without even needing to visit a shop.

The suit and bridesmaids
Ryan wore a pale blue crepe suit from Mr Porter. I wanted the bridesmaids to be able to choose their own dresses so we agreed on a shade of pale pink to aim for and everyone did their own thing

Theme or colour scheme
Golds & pinks mainly

Flowers
We went to Covent Garden Flower market very early on the Thursday morning before the wedding with quite specific idea of lots of green foliage and some exotic pink textural flowers. Three of my best friends came to help as well as one of their Dad’s who used to be a top florist and definitely helped us get some great deals at the market. We then spent the day spray painting all the foliage gold. We went through about 8 spray cans. If only we’d known to buy gas masks before hand!

Decoration
White paper Mexican bunting and some gold shimmer curtains.  My best friend Lou is an interior stylist so was lucky enough to have her guidance

Food
Delicious Italian food. Parmiagana for the veggies and Pork for the meat eaters.

Wedding cake
My kind friends baked several cakes for us and they were really special.

Entertainment
Our friend played a killer 6 hour DJ set which we’ll never forget. The dance floor was having it.

Who supplied the stationery?
We did paperless post emails for the invites. My mum made beautiful table place names using watercolour pain and gold calligraphy. Poppy’s Paper Cuts designed us a beautiful wedding coat of arms which we adore.

Personal touches
We did everything ourselves and pulled in every favour or friend we possibly could to make it happen

Special moments
The whole thing was amazing. We loved the speeches and the dancing and ending up on our friend’s shoulders dancing at the end was unforgettable.

Advice for other couples
Enjoy every minute, the day speeds by so fast
