Casey and Mark’s Boho Waterfront Wedding in The Florida Keys by Freas Photography

I have such a gorgeous wedding for you today, I am so excited for you to see it. Casey and Mark were married on 9th March 2018 at Marathon in the Florida Keys, and their wedding is pure perfection. You can really feel the love through these photos by Freas Photography. The couple are super laid back and this really comes across with the way they are together. The whole wedding has a chilled Bohemian vibe, with gorgeous flowers, rustic decor and the most stunning Grace Loves Lace wedding gown. I just love Casey’s bouquet, the bridesmaids dresses and how much fun they all had!

Boho Waterfront Wedding in the Florida Keys

A few words from the photographer

Being a wedding photographer in the Florida Keys you get the opportunity of photographing Destination Weddings, and then you get the pleasure of being a part of other Florida Keys’ local’s weddings. It allows you to work with the couple a lot more than someone who is just coming in for the wedding week. Casey and Mark are two locals that I got to know over the course of a year.
We shot their engagement photos back in the summer, which allowed me to get to know them. Two fun loving people who enjoy the water, the outdoors, and have adventurous souls. I watched their travels to Iceland, their hard work after Hurricane Irma for their community, and then the love they showed at their wedding.

They were married at the Faro Blanco Resort & Marina in Marathon, Florida. The weather was what everyone dreams of. Nice breeze, on the water, and blue sky and wispy clouds. The groomsmen arrived by boat, which was awesome. The girls were decked out in babys breath crowns, which any boho dreamer would adore. The ceremony was genuine and loving, and two souls were joined.

How they met and the propsal
Mark and I were very young when we met. He is about 4 years older than I am, so naturally and parent would be skeptical of us dating at the young ages of 15 and 19. My mother did not like the idea, so at first my dreams were crushed. But, one night my mom came home from the tiny restaurant that she had just started working at and said, “Casey! The owner of the restaurant I work at had the cutest grandson! You need to meet him, his name is Mark!” I looked at her with a face full of excitement, but thought there was no way it was “my” Mark. My dream Mark! But it was! My mom forgot all about his age when she met him because he is the sweetest, most genuine man I (and she) had ever met. We stared dating shortly after- even though we were so young, Mark made it a point to ask me to be his girlfriend in person by driving to my house in a nice button down shirt just to do so! I was so happy, I still remember the moment perfectly- and our love just keeps getting stronger! Mark proposed to me in Breckenridge, CO in front of a fire with flurries falling from the sky. I hardly remember what he said when he got down on one knee because I was in shock! But, nevertheless, I said yes! My dreams had come true and he had chosen me forever!

The dress and suit
My dress was a dream. It was the Francis for Grace Loves Lace. I went to try on dresses at one of their pop up shops in Miami and I was immediately drawn to the dress. But, with the belle sleeves and low cut in the front, I thought I would never pull it off. To my surprise, it fitted like a glove and my family loved it. Sold! Marks suit was Calvin Klein. He was so excited to purchase his first suit, so he did not stop shopping until he found the perfect one that fit just right. He looked so handsome and so confident on our big day!

Theme or colour scheme
My husband and I are both super laid back! So, we wanted a very relaxing, bohemian style wedding. Our main goal for the big day was to have everybody dancing and feeling the love all night long.

Decoration
Flowers were HUGE to me! For the ceremony, we had our florist Dori create a driftwood arch for us with a huge king Protea encorporated as well. Without that arch, our ceremony would never have been as perfect! My mom also helped with ceremony decor by drying out rose petals for everyone to throw for the recessional. It took her forever! But, it was magical and I’m so thankful that she helped out with that part! Our guest book was also hand made by my husband and I, but the rest of the decor and flowers for the tables were all Dori at Marathons florist. She was amazing!

Personal Touches
The “personalized” aspect of our day has to be how Mark and I celebrated OUR day. Everyone told us, “You’re going to be so tired of greeting everyone!” And, “Make sure you have a tasting before the wedding, you won’t be eating the night of!” But, we wanted to make sure that we spent the majority of our day on US. We were so thankful to have our guests there with us, of course. So we made our rounds before dinner to thank everyone for coming, but quickly relaxed and ATE our delicious dinner. The rest of the night was spent dancing the night away with the love of my life! I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Special moments
I could not wait to see my man!! I knew he would look so handsome and I could not wait for him to see my dress for the first time. When we first locked eyes while I was walking down the aisle, I almost lost it. I was so excited to see him. I could not wait to say “I do” and start our lives together as a married couple!

Advice for other couples
Don’t sweat the small stuff, everything will work out in the end. Do some DIY! I am the least creative person I know, and I still managed to put a special touch on the day. EAT YOUR DINNER, you deserve it. Don’t spend your time making sure everyone at the wedding is happy, spend your time focusing on your new hubby. Soak in the ceremony and never forget it. DONT DRINK RUM PUNCH THAT WILL  POTENTIALLY STAIN YOUR DRESS. Dance the night away. Let your husband jump in the pool with his clothes on. And most importantly, don’t freak out if your wedding party forgets to bring your vow book to the ceremony. Speak from your heart and you will do just fine.
