Moss and Angela’s Music Festival Themed Colorado Wedding by Rock and Love Weddings

Hello you gorgeous people and welcome to another busy week on the blog. How are you doing? did you hve a good weekend? This week I am featuring a Honeymoon special. Every day this week I will be featuring a different destination with some expert advice on Honeymooning in that area. This afternoon we kick off our travels as we head to France, so if you are interested in finding out more about Honeymooning in France pop back this afternoon. This morning though we are off to Colorado for the glorious wedding of Angela and Moss who were married on 29th September 2023 in Idaho Springs, Colorado. ‘The picturesque mountain riverfront venue provided a breath taking backdrop for the celebration, offering stunning views of the Colorado Mountains. The couple’s love story began at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, which was incorporated into the wedding theme. The reception featured a unique touch, with each table named after a famous music band, showcasing the couple’s shared love for music. A starlit dance floor under the Colorado night sky set the stage for a night of disco-themed celebration and dancing.’ I just love the addition of disco balls, and the music references in this wedding, as for the bridesmaids, how super stylish do they look all in black! Big thanks to Rock and Love Weddings for these gorgeous photos.

How they met and the proposal
We meet at Red Rocks at STS9 (Moss’s favourite band) on September 7, 2018. Moss was originally planning to propose at a Phish concert (Angela’s favourite band) in New York on NYE (’21-22). Unfortunately, Covid happened and the plans were cancelled. To pivot, we decided to have a staycation and do a date night every day that week. Moss planned a special date and told me that he was taking me somewhere we’ve never been. He blindfolded me and drove us to Red Rocks instead! He walked me up (still blindfolded) to the same spot where we first met and that is where he proposed in the snow, while playing the most beautiful part of my absolute favourite song – The Lizards by Phish. That was the same song that I walked down the aisle to.

Outfits
My dress was by Dany Tabet from his Goddess Collection and it was the first dress I tried on.  I always knew I wanted black bridesmaid dresses because everyone looks great in black, the dresses would match, and I wanted my gals to be able to choose a style that flattered them and they felt comfortable in. I had multiple girls who were pregnant and have all different body shapes and having them feel beautiful and comfortable and have a dress they could wear again if desired was important to me. Plus, black, white, and red is always a winning colour combo! As far as the men, I wanted them to look sharp and classic with black suits. Moss wore a traditional black tux while the groomsmen had black suits and skinny black ties.

Theme or colour scheme
The themes for our wedding was Colorado and a Music Festival. We are huge music lovers and both chose to move from the East Coast to make Colorado our new home. We met at a concert at Red Rocks in Colorado so we wanted to incorporate elements of what we love about the beautiful nature in Colorado with our love for music. Our favourite bands are Phish & STS9 so those two played particularly bigger roles than other bands.

Decoration
Our colours were black, gold, disco balls, and red roses. We also had custom decor made to look like the structure of the Red Rocks Amphitheatre where we met. We also incorporated two of the pieces of decor (large 6 ft” crystals) that were on the stage of the concert that we met at to emulate that show.

Flowers
Roses, baby’s breath and disco balls. The black decor with the pops of red roses and black were stunning against the yellow fall Aspen trees. The tables had gold plates and silverware and disco balls and baby’s breath along with gold votives and red roses.

Personal touches
Everything was personalized to reflect us. The custom Red Rocks decor was unlike anything we’ve ever seen, we created custom festival wristbands and ticket stubs for each guest instead of traditional place cards. The tables were each names of artists or bands so people got a ticket to go to their designated band when they entered our reception tent.

Special moments
Seeing each other for the first time and our ceremony. Particularly walking down the aisle and saying our vows to each other are moments we will cherish in our hearts forever.

Advice for other couples
The little details that you think will matter the most, won’t in the end! We spent 80% of our time and energy planning on everything that happened before and after the ceremony and while everything came together beautifully and we don’t regret all of the effort we put into it, in the end, standing together exchanging vows and feeling like the only people in the world is what the day was truly all about.
