Snow Filled Botantical and Poetry Wedding Inspiration

Happy Friday afternoon everyone! For those of you who went back to work this week, it’s not long now till you can clock off for the weekend and get back to all that excess food left over from Christmas!(Anyone else still got a mountain of cheese hiding in the fridge and a cupboard full of mince pies and chocolate?) Before that though, I have the most gorgeous styled shoot to share with you that took place last month at the Matara Centre inTetbury. It was put together by Sheryl from Oobaloos Photography and Lucy from All Things Lucy. The day was filled with a surprise blanket of festive snow and the results are this super stylish, oriental meets botanical, bohemain, poetry inspired shoot showing off Lucy’s gorgeous new collection. A fabulous team of suppliers all worked hard to create this  beautiful shoot that brings so many wonderful ideas for the dreaminess of winter weddings.

Oriental, Botantical, Poetry Inspired Shoot

What made you decide to do the Shoot?
Lucy from All Things Lucy approached me with her gorgeous collection, and mentioned oriental, botanical and poetry. Since I am a hopeless romantic, I jumped at the chance of creating different looks and exploring one of my favourite venues without the pressure of being there for a real wedding. It has so many beautiful liitle hidey holes, and secret gardens! The snow just made it magical! Even though at one point we werent even sure all the team could get there on the rural roads! I adored the creativity the entire shoot gave me as the photographer and the team were just super.

What was your inspiration behind it?
The contrast of warm botanical indoor spaces was a stark contrast to the outdoor images of our striking model Sabina in the snow. Each scene was carefully considered by hair and make-up artist Nadezhda coupled with the ethereal bridal separates from Boho Brides new Freedom collection which meant we could quickly adapt each look with minimal effort but for maximum impact. The delicate blush and lace shoes by Di Hassall were a welcomed break from our wedding wellies which were also a bonus considering our new and challenging terrain!
Felix & Fox Calligraphy provided the link to poetry in the form of gracefully hand- written love poems and Lucy Walker Flowers made the most beautiful posy including deep red roses, dusky Eucalyptus and purple foliage which provided a stunning contrast against our white landscape. Lucy also designed the hanging wreaths which formed the backdrop to the cake made by Sugar Bowl Cakes and Bakes who fully embraced the theme by adding textured golds for warmth coupled with oriental flowers.
Selecting a venue that mimicked these qualities was an integral part of our recently styled shoot and one which the Matara Centre did beautifully. An east meets west vibe won me over instantly with their bohemian décor and oriental botanicals. The venue had so many areas where the light just fell creating exotic shapes and shadows; Sheryl from Oobaloos photography used these areas effortlessly and was always thinking outside the box which was one of the main reasons I chose her. The shoot needed an edge and with the bonus of mother nature playing her part in the form of snow -we got it!
