Today’s wedding is FULL of love and laughter. Yes, I know every wedding is full...
Yay it’s Friday and it looks like the weather may have taken a turn for the better, after a week of horrible gales and poring rain! Just in time for the weekend, happy days! It’s been a busy old week on the blog and we are finishing it off with this bright and bold, yellow and blue Italian wedding. Alice and Marco ended up changing their venue just 4 days before their big day but they didn’t let this stress them out instead they rolled with the challenge and enjoyed a laid back, fun packed day of love and laughter. Samanta Tamborini was there to capture the day for them.
Alice and Marco were married on the 25th of June 2017 in a Civil ceremony in Oggiona Santo Stefano followed by a reception in Villa Monvecchio Barilli located in Comabbio (Italy). ‘My husband is from Oggiona Santo Stefano and we decided to get married there because is very close to his childhood favourite places, relatives and friends. Reception was supposed to be held in a different location but, at the very last second (4 days before the wedding day!!!) we ended up in Comabbio in a beautiful liberty villa. Owners were very kind location was fantastic! They even let us stay overnight and have breakfast in the garden the morning after…it was so good! We had 90 crazy guests! It took about 1 year to organize and plan everything.’
How they met
We met at university, 11 years ago. It wasn’t love at first sight… but, after 1 year among books and teachers we did a trip together around Europe and, after that I don’t think we were apart for a minute!
Marco organized a weekend in Rome. I was really surprised and it was fantastic to reach our beautiful capital city and got engaged down there! Rome is romantic and chaotic at the same time… like us! When he gave me the ring I started laughing… probably because I was really nervous and I immediately realized what he was doing!
How did you allocate your budget?
We divided our budget considering every single element of our wedding. We planned all the operations and smallest thing! Confetti bags… cards… music…!
Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We splurged a little bit of money with live music band but, at the end it was well worth it! We had so much fun.. and everyone was dancing like a mad!
Why did you choose your photographer?
I met Super Samanta, our photographer, during another wedding. Actually, I was working as well! During that occasion, the bride asked me to sew her bridesmaids dresses and I saw Samanta and her staff in action while I was helping to get dressed all the bride girl friends!!! Samanta was very professional, kind and friendly at the same time. I loved the way she works, she has got a great technique, she only asks you few things in order to be natural as much as you can! Just great! We just love her!
I bought my dress in a boutique in Varese, is from Celeste Bridal collection (my something new) a white lace and tulle dress… when rock’n’roll music started I changed my dress and I wore a yellow lace midi dress made by one of my best friend! I didn’t wear accessories, exception made for my mother earrings (something borrowed) and my grandfather wedding ring (something old) sticked on my sandal lace. My sandals were the something blue stuff! A pair of jewelled roland cartier sandal, I bought them before the dress, I know I’m crazy!
The Suit and Bridesmaids
Marco’s suit, a deep blue suit completed by a pale yellow bow tie, was the result of the work of two lovely guy in a boutique near Como. Bridesmaids’ dresses were made by my best friend, in blue royal colour, satin and georgette fabric. My girl friends were awesome! They even wore yellow sandals! Sooo lovely!
Theme or Colour Scheme
We chose blue and yellow colour and we put it everywhere… starting from stationery and even in food appetizer!
Blue hydrangea, yellow dahlia white daisies, lots of rosemary and lush green ferns!
We used lots of paper pompoms, gingham and stripes bunting, hundreds of glass jars filled with white salt, tea lights and small blue and yellow candle!
We chose to have lots of appetizers and finger foods mixing and matching fresh veggies, Italian bread and focaccia, meat fish and fruits all together… and then a beautiful, delicious and savoury Italian style risotto with basil and taggiasche olives and last… a mixed BBQ!
Our wedding cake was a naked cake filled with fresh cream, strawberries, blackberries raspberries decorated with our blue and yellow flowers and our hand painted and handmade (of course!!) cake topper! Unforgettable!
Rock and roll music!!!!! 50s and 60s artists and music were played all night long by a live music band!
We put our personal touch everywhere! Decoration, stationery, menus, wedding table plan, flowers composition, confetti bags, guests present (we grew 100 small plants, heart shaped!!)
Special Moments or Highlights
We loved when we first sat at our table and we saw all our friends, relatives and parents gathered together just for us! It was amazing! We cried! The day itself was so special! Everything was perfect! We really enjoyed each moment!
Advice for other couples
Trust yourself and your partner first! Remember it will be your day and you will remember it for your entire life so make it like you want and desire!
A very special friend who came from Australia made a beautiful speech… more tears dropped!!!!
I’m Samanta. I’m a photographer, a traveler, a daydreamer. I snap love stories and sweet memories. I like to observe and walk around during a wedding. I look at smiles, interactions, looks and every sparkling and real emotion. I find it I shoot. I want a bride and groom to not care about me and my presence. I want them to simply enjoy their day. It’s my job to tell their story while their are living it freely. I often ask theme to take 10 minutes alone with me far from the party and noise. Just to take a breathe and a pause, and then I take some portraits more intimate. I’m a wedding photographer based in Varese, North Italy and worldwide available.
