Yay for Friday! and hello to the weekend! I hope you have had a good week so far and that you are looking forward to the weekend ahead fo us? Do you have anything fun planned? I am off for a day out with Thomas the Tank engine on Sunday, not something I could see myself doing a few years ago, but the wants and needs of a nearly 3-year-old are ever strong in our household! We have a fabulous bright and crazy rainbow wedding to finish off the week with today, a real feast of colour for the eyes. Filled with DIY decoration and so much fun, this wedding will keep you smiling all through this lovely Friday! Thanks to Ania Ames Photography for the images.
Paula and Stephen were married on the 30th July 2016 at The Granary at Fawsley in Northamptonshire. ‘It was very pretty- we viewed the Granary on a beautiful sunny day and I thought ” yes this is the one” I didn’t want to get married in a church or registry office either so it was perfect. We had 86 day guests and a total of 170 in the evening. The wedding took 10 months to plan.’
How they met
We met through our best friends and we’re together 4 years at the time of the wedding
The Proposal
Stephen knew I didn’t want anything too public, so he took me out on a country drive ( we sometimes do this on a Sunday) and stopped by a field and a large gate leading to it, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
How did you allocate your budget?
We wanted to stick to a budget of around £10000 I think we spent about £16000 in the end- still not bad considering the average U.K. Wedding is about £25k
Where did you splurge and where did you save?
Splurged on dress and décor. Saved on not putting alcohol on the tables- I didn’t want to waste money giving people wine that they actually didn’t like.
Why did you choose your photographer?
Our photographer was recommended by a friend, Jenna my maid of honour.
The Dress
My dress was from Lola bridal – from the brand La Sposa. Shoes were ASOS – cheap and cheerful!
The Suit and Bridesmaids
Suits were from Moss Bros, and the Bridesmaid dresses again from ASOS. The Baby bridesmaid dresses were made at a Brides World, Northampton.
Theme or Colour Scheme
Lots of ideas on Pinterest- I wanted to be a bit different rather than classic and expected
Flowers
Mixed multi-coloured with ribbons and pom poms built in!
What sort of decoration did you have?
Bright and crazy!
Food
We had a fab BBQ
Wedding Cake
We had a classic! Colin the caterpillar x2: a bride and groom one!
Entertainment
We had a Magician and caricaturist, it was great!
Who supplied the stationery?
It was all handmade
Personal Touches
Lots of things – about 50% of the decor we did ourselves, loads of buying on eBay and hobby craft. We even hand cut some flowers ourselves to put in some vintage tins for the table
Special Moments or Highlights
It’s hard to say it was all so lovely. There were several time where we purposely stood back and look around and everyone- it was so nice
Advice for Other Couples
Just chill out – it’s just a big party really!
Biggest Surprise
Stephens speech. He hates public speaking but he did so well! Like a pro – and everything about me was from the heart it wasn’t written down.
