It may be June here, and supposedly summer, but today I’m going to make you feel all warm and cosy with this gorgeous winter wonderland Tipi wedding, which has been sent in to me by Coastal Tents and photographed by Thomas Alexander. If you are currently planning a winter wedding then this is for you. Full of twinkly lights, candles and so many gorgeous winter decoration ideas, it really is a wedding that will make you want to curl up and grab a large glass of mulled wine in front of an open fire. A fabulous celebration that shows Tipi weddings aren’t just for the summer!
Alex and James were married on 5th December 2015 at their parents house in woolland, Dorset. They had 135 and it took just 4 months to plan.
How they met
In a bar, two and a halg years ago
The proposal
It was on bicycles, up a very steep hill…He made me work for it.
Where did you splurge and where did you save
Stationary, cake and bridesmaids dresses were all less. We kept it to two courses. Tents and decoration was the most important to be special so that is where we focused the budget.
Why did you choose your photographer?
Thomas is a friend of my sister. Plus, obviously, he was fantastic!
The Dress
Katya Katya Shehurina
The Suit and Bridesmaids
Magee tweed suit. Bridesmaids wearing own dresses
Theme or colour scheme
Just warm, twinkly and wintery. It was nighttime.
Flowers
Winter jasmine, hydrangeas, lots of green and berries.
Decoration
Lots of winter jasmine, greenery, fairy lights and hanging glass balls with candles – all thanks to Tattie.
Food
Sharing plates of steak and seafood with red velvet weding cake
Entertainment
Music from Congo Faith Healers
Any personal touches
My sister and boyfriend did a table plan that was a reindeer advent calendar. We are totally non artistic ourselves!
Special moments
Walking into the tipis when everyone had already arrived and seeing them all finished and all our friends was amazing. Remembering the cake at about 1am. So we only had to share it with the few that remained was a bonus!
Advice to other couples
Only have one chief if you want to get anything done, we had many and we were useless! Having someone like Owen from Coastal Tents helping was amazing. He was so brilliant, thought of everything that we hadn’t thought of, and didn’t even get angry with how rubbish we were! And Katy Davis from the invisible chef was also so so helpful.
