Diary of a Boho Bride - Whitney and Tom, Entry 5: To Do List and Honeymoon

I’ll pass you over to Whitney

This week I am writing all about my pre-wedding beauty prep!!! As much as I love wedding blogs I also love beauty blogs and have been known to spend many hours  reading up on all the latest must have products which promise to perform all kinds of miracles! I even enjoy shopping for beauty products more than I do clothes so without wanting to sound vain the beautifying process is something I’m likely to be quite fussy about when it comes to the big day.  Here’s a few photos I’ve been adding to pinterest of what I’m hoping to achieve, I’m feeling a fairly natural look but with lots of dewy highlighted skin! In addition to finding those holy grail products which will help me achieve this look I’ve really been upping my water intake and having regular facials which I feel has already made a huge difference.

As I’m getting married abroad and my hair and makeup artists lives in Australia, I won’t be having a trial until the day before therefore I’m attempting to do as much as I can to organise myself beforehand and to minimise any last minute panic when it comes to beauty related decisions. This includes arranging make up trials at the counters in department stores such as Debenhams, John Lewis etc. This is a big tip of mine for those who don’t know what products to use and what look they want to go for.  In some cases your makeup artist may not be able to lend you the products they used to touch up your makeup throughout the day so it may be worth investing in a few key products such as a lipstick that you can use to top out. I’ve tried a few different brands now and although pricey, in terms of their heat resistant ability and long lasting super powers, Nars and Hourglass are my favourite brands so far! A friend of mine also recommended booking an appointment at somewhere like Space NK which is a good opportunity to try several different makeup brands at once.

In terms of hair, I’m really undecided as to whether I want to have my hair up or down. I like having my hair down as it makes me feel more girly but I’m worried about the heat! My best friend is getting married in September so I’m planning to tag along to her trial in March to get a few ideas. In the meantime I’ve been trying to treat my hair once a week to make sure it’s in tip top condition. I’ve been using Philip Kingsley elasticiser which seems to be a beauty bloggers holy grail.

Keeping on the subject of hair I’ve also been having laser hair removal which I cannot recommend enough, it really is just one less to worry about particularly if you are having an abroad wedding like me, and what’s more it really is pain free! I did lots of research and the treatment that I’m having done uses the machine Soprano ICE – I highly recommend! You can get great deals on places such as groupon these days just make sure you do your reviews and visit the salon beforehand if you can.

Another thing that has been on my mind is the tanning situation or lack of it! I’m your typical English rose and can burn on a winters day (slightly exaggerated) so I know I won’t have a natural tan for the wedding. Not wanting to blend in completely with my dress, I’m likely to get a spray tan just before we go and I’m sure you will all agree this is something that definitely has to be trialled before the big day! Any spray tan recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

On top of all this when I’m not exfoliating, moisturising, tanning you might occasionally find me in the gym (I said might!). I’d love to hear from you in terms of products  that you plan to/have used for your wedding and any beauty tips you may have!

Until Next Time…
