Charly and Dimitri’s Home Spun Cotswolds Wedding By Adam Riley Photography

Today we are taking you back to the summer when the sun shone and the nights were long with this gorgeous home spun Cotswolds wedding. Charly and Dimitri were lucky enough to hold their wedding in Charly’s parents back garden, which not only saved them loads of money but also made the day hugely personal to them and gave a really laid back feel to the whole celebrations. They created loads of home-made projects which added to the personal element of the whole day. A wedding full of sunshine and love and some lovely photos from Adam Riley Photography.

‘Many of our guests described it as a day full of love and fun; no pretension or pomp, just lovely people coming together to celebrate. A really home-made, home-spun wedding with lots of personal touches (made by us at our kitchen table), which made for a day that was truly ours’

Charly and Dimitri were married on 18th July 2015 at Charly’s parents’ house in the Cotswolds. ‘It is a special place for us as a family. We had 120 guests in total and it took us 9 months to plan.’

Where did you splurge and where did you save
Splurged on the yurt, the band and the photographer because these were the important to us. Saved on the food and the cost of a formal venue/corkage etc. Made our own stationary.

How did you choose your photographer
Charly was a photographer and her bridesmaid IS a photographer so this was the most important element. We found Adam through an Oxfordshire photographer and really liked not just his photographs, and how he captured the real day, but also his manner and personality. It was like having a friend around, and yet we barely noticed him taking photos. Amazingly, he travelled all the way from Manchester to be with us.

Special Moments
Getting married at Oxford Registry Office felt like a surprisingly big deal. Having a garden ceremony with all of our guests in Charly’s parents’ garden. Sneaking off to get some time by ourselves as the light was starting to fade.

Advice to other couples
Don’t get het up worrying about your guests, they’ll have a great time. Spend money on the things that matter to you, not to others. And be prepared for it to flash past. Savour the rare moments that you have to yourselves, and create them during the day.

Biggest surprise
The atmosphere of genuine love and fun. We’re so glad that we didn’t go to a venue because it really felt like a day for us and our friends and families to celebrate informally and get to know each other. People flew in from 3 continents and yet it felt like they’d all known each other for years.
