Happy Friday everyone and how are you all? How has your week been so far?...
Happy Friday everyone and how are you all? I am looking forward to a nice quiet weekend. It’s all been a bit manic over the last few weeks so this weekend Nik, Dexter and I plan to do something just the 3 of us, have Sunday as a family and get a few jobs done. What about you?
I am finishing off the week with this lovely wedding from Andy Hudson Photography. It’s a relaxed, rustic day with a Midsummer Night’s Dream theme, lots of wildflowers, great food and a real family feel.
Julia and Craig were married on 30th May 2015 at Cuddystone Hall, College Valley, near Wooler, Northumberland. The reception was held in a marquee next door. ‘Our third son Alex, twelve at the time, found it while browsing online. The online pictures were great, and when we went out to have a look around the scenery was stunning, and we could easily picture ourselves getting married there. We invited approximately 110 guests in total. It took about 6 months to plan the wedding.’
How they met
We met on a blind date and have been together approx. 12 months
We were visiting Craig’s brother and he proposed.
How did you allocate your budget
We gave the money to Julia’s sister and her friend (Angharad Symes and Jen Lawrie) and watched the magic happen.
How did you choose your photographer
Monsoon. The shoes were by Kurt Geiger, and the jewellery was borrowed.
The Suit and Bridesmaids
John Lewis and Marks and Spencer’s.
Theme or Colour Scheme
A midsummer nights’s dream.
Wildflowers from a florist.
Flowers, jam jars, tea lights, moss, petals, shepherd’s crooks, and the Northumberland countryside.
Canapés, hog roast and BBQ.
We had three tiers of different cheeses.
We had a string quartet, games for the children and a DJ.
Buy or DIY your Stationery
We bought and DIYed in equal measure.
Personal or Handmade Touches
Julia’s dad wrote an acrostic poem using the first letters of our names and the names of our children. The tables were named after bodies of water in the Lake District, all our children had a roll to play (as bridesmaids, readers or ushers) and we decorated the marquee and hall ourselves.
Riding to the church in a Nissan Pathfinder with my sisters, the scenery outside, the chosen vows, and the weather , Jooles coming in.
Advice to other couples
The only thing that matters is loving each other.
Julia: How happy I was to be married.
Craig: The bar ran out of jäger.
