Todays wedding is perfect for this time of year, a gorgeous sunny country wedding full of fun, smiles and some cracking vintage inspired outfits. Kate the bride just loves Audrey Hepburn and wanted to reflect this in her choice of bridal gowns, and this 50s style tea length dress does just that. The bridesmaids in their gorgeous flowed dresses are equally as stunning and I am loving the groomsmen in their fun relaxed outfits, bow ties and braces, perfect for a country wedding. With a relaxed BBQ at their local pub as their reception, this wedding is effortlessly chilled and bursting with personally. Big thanks to Tiree from Tiree Dawson Photography for these gorgeous images.
Kate and Danny were married on 30th May 2015 at St Mary’s Church, Crosthwaite and The Punch Bowl, Underbarrow. ‘We wanted a fun and relaxed wedding in the village that we lived in. We had 115 guests in total. We booked it around 12 months in advance, everything else took around 6 months.’
How they met
We met and work and we have been together around 3.5years
The Proposal
We were in Thailand on holiday, it was NYE and Danny wrote his proposal on a Chinese lantern before he lit the lantern, I said yes and we let the lantern fly.
How did you allocate your budget
We wanted lots of live music and a relaxed atmosphere and a great photographer to capture our story, so we set the bulk of the budget on music, photographer and getting the venue looking perfect.
How did you choose your photographer
I researched local photographers who suited the theme we were hoping for. Tiree was perfect for the job, she just understood out story and the look we were going for.
The Dress
Dress was by Romantica, shoes were Louboutin and then sent away to Lace and Love for personalisation
The Suit and Bridesmaids
Trousers and shirts from Next, braces and dickie bows online. Bridesmaids dresses were Lindybop
Theme or Colour Scheme
We were looking for a traditional country / vintage tea party theme, I have always loved Audrey Hepburn so also styled the dresses on her.
Flowers
A variety of vintage roses, forget me nots, hydrangea, lavender, wheat, gypsophelia and many others. A real mix of with a wild feel
Decoration
Bunting, crates, jars, tea cups, vintage bikes, vintage radios, vintage suitcases, candles
Food
BBQ
Wedding Cake
A 3 tier naked cake, lemon drizzle, white chocolate and raspberry and vanilla.
Entertainment
Sax player and a live band.
Buy or DIY your Stationery
DIY
Personal or Handmade Touches
I handmade my wedding favours (apart from the glass itself), they were glittery champagne glasses, I hand made my invitations and my order of service
Special Moments
The cheer as we were married, our friends and family enjoying themselves and dancing the night away
Advice to other couples
Enjoy every second of it, take time together throughout the day. Don’t let the planning get you down, enjoy it, it is the greatest day of your life.
Biggest surprise
The overwhelming feeling of happiness around the venue.
