Rachel and Alun’s Fun, Relaxed Farm Wedding By Struth Photography

Happy Wednesday everyone, we have made it to the middle of the week, yay for that! Today I have a super cute farm wedding for you, brought to you courtesy of Struth Photography . The ceremony takes place in a lovely little barn with the reception in a beautifully decorated marquee. They kept the day personal by doing lots of the decoration themselves and added a relaxed feel to the day by serving afternoon tea and a hog roast later on in the evening. With giant outside games and a limbo competition, this wedding not only looks great but looks like lots of fun as well.

‘Our Wedding day was so perfect – so many personal aspects. It was so lovely to spend this day with all of our friends and family. It was fun, relaxed and the food was delicious’

Rachel and Alun were married on 23rd May 2015 at All at Hafod Farm in Llanrwst. ‘We got married where we did because it is such a beautiful location. The barn to have the ceremony was perfect and we could have the day as we wanted it. We had 80 guests for the day time and 120 for the evening reception. We got engaged 20th November and started looking at venues in December so it took six monthst.’

How they met
We met through my (Rachel’s) sister and her husband who set us up, and have been together for 4 and a half years.

The Proposal
It was on my birthday, we took our dog to our fave beach where he got down on one knee in the sand dunes.

How did you choose your photographer
My sister-in-law recommended them, we went onto their website and loved their style instantly!

The Dress
Dress was by David Tutera, Veil and hair slide were from my sister’s wedding, pearl necklace was my Great-Grandmother’s and the sandals were from Dune.

The Suit and Bridesmaids
Suits were from Red Herring by Debenhams, Bridesmaid dresses from Coat and Flowergirl’s dresses from Monsoon.

Theme or Colour Scheme
We didn’t have a specific colour theme, we had afternoon tea so teapots were used as centrepieces, theme was kept in the theme of the barn with natural looking flowers, hay bales etc.

Flowers
Peonies, Gypsophila & Roses

Decoration
Bunting, paper pom-poms, hay bales, China tea sets, tea lights.

Food
Daytime was afternoon tea, evening was a hog roast.

Wedding Cake
Was beautifully made by my mother-in-law (Sue), it was 3 layers of lemon. Chocolate and vanilla.

Entertainment
Giant outdoor games – Connect 4, Jenga and Snakes and ladders, a mini bouncy castle and DJ for music.

Buy or DIY your Stationery
Invites were bought from ‘Tree of hearts’, table plan and place names made by me.

Personal or Handmade Touches
I made my Grandma’s recipe for Welsh cakes for favours; Alun’s Brothers Dave and Sam made us a beautiful wooden arch and an engraved tree trunk for our cake stand. I made the table plan and place names with some bits from hobby craft and painted old decorator’s ladders.

Special Moments
The highlight of the day was the ceremony, both of our mothers did readings, also swallows had gotten into the barn and were tweeting and flying above us throughout!

Advice to other couples
Enjoy ever minute! Don’t stress about the little things as the most important thing is that you are marrying each other. If you don’t enjoy crafting or making things then don’t do it for your wedding as it takes a lot of time!

Biggest surprise
When the sun came out in the afternoon! Forecasts had been mixed so we weren’t expecting it to come out but it was a beautiful afternoon. Also seeing the beautiful cake and stand lovingly made by family was really touching.

I love the table décor at the reception so simple and fitting for a country style wedding – just beautiful.
