Book a cheap B&B or choose a glamping option and you’ll have plenty of cash for wining, dining and other expensive activities.

For instance, an off season safari trip to Botswana (November to April) can be almost half the price if you don’t mind the odd rain shower, or winter in Venice can be surprisingly romantic as the island fills with mist and fog.
