Boho Loves: Raggtime Pictures – Telling stories in film

boho loves

Today is my wedding Anniversary, 6 years ago I married the man of my dreams and today I am pleased to say we are happier than ever. When I look back at my wedding there are a few things I would change and a few regrets, one of them being not booking a wedding film maker. Capturing the wedding day on film is such an important aspect, the photographs of course are a HUGE factor of the day, as I have said many times before, however having a film to go alongside your gorgeous photos is also something I would really push for. Today I am delighted to welcome Claire and Pete from Raggtme Pictures onto the blog to talk about their wonderful wedding film company.

‘We are creative film makers based in Stratford-upon-Avon. It’s great to be able to capture such a special day and create a memory in film, something that our couples can relive time and time again’

I’ll pass you over to Claire from raggtme picturs to tell you more……

What made you start your business
Pete has been in the film and media industry for over 20 years starting with the filming of weddings but at the time it was when films produced were 2 hours long and not much creative input was required. Pete realized early on that he liked to tell stories and needed to be able to do this creatively. He went onto work as an editor in the corporate world and filming and photography became more of a hobby. My back ground was from the hotel and catering side and working some weddings from a different perspective and then I went on to doing PA work and event organisiation. We had talked about doing something together as we needed a creative outlet and after filming a friend’s wedding and such positive feedback being received it seemed to happen naturally and the rest is history.

When did you start your business
February 2014

Where are you based
We live in Henley in Arden which is just outside Stratford-upon-Avon

Which areas do you cover
We are happy to work anywhere and love talking to couples about their locations and venues.

How would you describe your style
We believe our style is quite personal as all our films are very different and we try to compliment the couples theme and personality. This means we try to get to know each couple before their wedding day so we get to know how they met and hear their story. Our approach on the day is very natural, unstaged and unobtrusive.

What is your biggest achievement so far
Most definitely getting through our first year and seeing how quickly it has grown with acknowledgement from the wedding industry awards as a regional finalist. We have tripled the amount of films we have done this this year in comparison to our first year which is great.

What makes you different from your competitors
This is a hard one to answer because there are so many great videgraphers out there. I guess all we can say is that we are doing this because we love what we do and its fun. As we both still have our ‘day jobs’ Raggtime for us works because we enjoy it and we are not doing it to make money. If it stops being fun then we stop!

What do you enjoy the most about your job
Being able to tell peoples stories and able to do it in our own creative way is just the best. We enjoy being amongst celebration and capturing emotions on such a special day. We feel so lucky to be able to visit such beautiful locations and venues and meeting lots of fun and interesting people.

What sort of couple do you think you attract
Lots of different couples. As our films are all different there seems to be something for everyone. I guess as our films our short stories (Approx 20 minutes) we do only attract those that are looking for this rather than a full on 2 hour film which is more of a documentary style film of their day.

What is your ideal wedding to work on
Working with fun and outgoing couples is brilliant. Weddings that are slightly different either themed or quirky is something we would like to do more of

What is your ideal way to spend a day off
Relaxing at home with our children. Between us we have 4 children Jack is 2, Daisy is 4, Tom is 16 and Jim is 19 so we have a busy busy life but we love it

What could you never leave the house without
Our cameras

If you weren’t running your business what would you be doing
We would still be doing something similar I think. We both enjoy photography but we keep this is our hobby…..for now
