For Culture – Japan

Japan is home to breathtaking technology, stunning natural sights and well-preserved heritage and traditions. If you are looking for an experience entirely different to English culture then you won’t find anywhere better then the Land of the Rising Sun.
Experience the hectic life of Tokyo and its bright lights before hopping on the bullet train and travelling at 300kph. Wander through Japanese gardens, explore the historical sites of Kyoto and peer up at the majestic Mount Fuji.
Japan is full of luxurious accommodation, with ryokans being the recommended option to really soak up the local culture. This, paired with delicious dinners in some of Japan’s Michelin starred restaurants, will bring all the luxury you could dream of.
For an indulgent honeymoon, with a dose of culture thrown in you can’t beat this magical land.

For Activity – South Africa

If you’re the kind of couple that likes a bit of action, then South Africa is the perfect honeymoon choice. Not only is it blessed with beautiful weather and huge variety, but it also plays host to some of the best activity holidays in the world.
Safari lovers can enjoy wildlife watching to their heart’s content in numerous national parks, with all the world’s favourite African giants out there to be found from elusive leopards to towering giraffes. Wine lovers can take to the Garden Route and enjoy some of the world’s best plonk in even better settings, whilst those who like to get their feet wet can go scuba diving or even take a dip with sharks if the mood takes!
Luxurious resorts aren’t in short supply whichever of these options you choose, and if you want to pair an active start to your honeymoon with some relaxing beach time at the end then that’s also on your doorstep.
If you’re an activity lover and South Africa wasn’t already on your honeymoon list, then it should be shooting straight to the top.

For Foodies – Italy

Italy is the foodie’s ultimate destination and it delivers on all fronts for a luxury culinary honeymoon.
Head to Umbria to go truffle hunting and sprinkle your findings on the most expensive meal you’ll ever have.  Spend some time on the Amalfi Coast, the home of Buffalo Mozzarella, where you can sample some of the amazing local produce and wash it down with a famous Limoncello. The of course there is Tuscany, where you can explore the plethora of wonderful wineries alongside a cooking course to learn the local tricks.
For the ultimate in luxury you can spend your evenings staying in opulent villas and traditional farmhouses that look out over the best views Italy has to offer. There truly is no better place to spend a hungry honeymoon!

For Variety – Malta

Malta may be a surprising inclusion for some in this list, but it is a small archipelago that delivers in a big way. For somewhere which is just 316km2 in size there is so much variety packed in.
Start in Valletta, the historic capital, which combines quaint cobbled streets with palaces, churches and other historic attractions. Head up to Gozo for crystal clear waters reminiscent of the Caribbean and home to some of the world’s best diving for activity lovers. Beach lovers can then head to one of the many beautiful white sands on offer across the islands, or laze by the pool in some of Europe’s best luxury hotels.
Malta is also popular as a destination wedding location, with some couples opting to enjoy both the wedding and honeymoon in these sunny climes. With almost year round sun and scenery which has been deemed good enough to feature in many films and TV programmes (such as Game of Thrones), it’s no surprise it’s rising in popularity.
Forget what you thought you knew about Malta, you’ll struggle to find anywhere which offers such beautiful variety in such a compact area, meaning you can just relax and enjoy the romantic view.

For Beaches – The Maldives

No surprises with this one. The Maldives has long been a honeymoon favourite and continues to offer incredible luxury resorts and some of the world’s best beaches.
For those how like to laze around by the pool, looking out at a strip of white sands and azure waters, framed by gently swaying palm trees, there is nowhere quite like it. Stay in one of the well known 5 star resorts and you’ll be treated like royalty, or opt for something a bit different in an overwater villa, listening to the sea lap beneath you as you sleep. Whatever you choose, the Maldives still won’t disappoint.

This should (hopefully!) be a once in a lifetime experience, so it’s important to splash out where you can and do something which you will remember for ever. Depending on what you’re looking for, hopefully these ideas will give you some food for thought!
