Meals on Wheels – The Alternative Wedding Breakfast

The Alternative Wedding Breakfast

Today on the Blog we are talking about the Wedding Breakfast! The food is going to be one of the most important aspects of your big day, so it is vital you get it right!
Catering for every taste, age group and financial resource can be one of the biggest challenges facing a bride-to-be. But with the trend moving away from the more traditional sit-down wedding breakfast, a more informal, budget-friendly and creative way of satisfying a hungry guest has emerged. All hail the food station!

An array of stations offering ‘tasters’, can be an imaginative and artistic way to provide food for any number of guests, however when planning a wedding where food is a little less conventional, it’s worth checking with your potential venue first to see what they are willing and able to do. Some venues may have restrictions or extra charges for bringing in catering options that they may not already offer.

Most wedding venues are only too happy to provide a blank canvas for a gastronomic bride and groom using caterers who are flexible and inventive with their food, so that couples feel they are getting something a little different and personal to their tastes and financial situation.

Budget isn’t always the reason behind the more informal style of catering like BBQs and buffets. Lots of couples are looking for something alternative and more and more are shying away from the set traditional three-course meal. Throughout this blog you will have seen make-your-own burger bars, pick ‘n’ mix sweet shops, crepe machines and ice-cream vans to name but a few alternative food ideas.

If you’re looking for unique ways to feed your wedding guests, here are some ideas to whet your appetite……

BOWLED OVER – Bowl food or sometimes known as a walking buffet is filling the gap between canapés and a full-on wedding feast. Usually served by waiters, it’s a slightly more substantial than a mouthful but with the added bonus of giving your guests lots of choice.

Delicate wedding food is essential to delight your guests. In recent times, we have seen a growing trend towards the meal on wheels phenomena. I had my brother’s marriage last month, and it was catered by Linda’s Pantry, and their food quality was awesome!!
