Happy Monday to you all, I hope you all had a fantastic weekend? I have a gorgeous same-sex wedding for you today all the way from Belgium courtesy of Leentje from Leentje Loves Light. It’s a gorgeous day bursting with love! The two beautiful brides Julie and Tatjana both opted for 50s themed wedding dress one in back and one in white and kept the 50s theme running throughout their day. They started the day with a gorgeous first look and then some amazing portrait shots around the streets of Oudenaarde. This then led onto a gorgeous outdoor ceremony and then a big old party after in a renovated barn. A fabulously fun wedding congratulations to them both.
Julie and Tatjana were married on the 31st of August with an outdoors ceremony followed by the reception and party inside a renovated barn, all at a private location, in Oudenaarde – Belgium. ‘It was the perfect location. There was nothing (no chairs, tables, kitchen, etc). We were free to do what we wanted. The barn had a lot of possibilities for decoration. And a barn is perfect for a vintage theme. We had 150 guests and we were engaged in august 2012, found the location in November 2012 and started planning in January 2013.’
How they met
We met at a little festival called ‘Feest in het Park’ in Oudenaarde, the city where we live and Julie’s hometown. We’ve been together for 8.5 years. Julie also proposed at the festival.
The proposal
It was magical! Julie proposed on the festival Feest in het Park where we met. There was a beautiful ferriswheel. Julie took Tatjana on the ferriswheel. All of their friends stayed watching because they all knew about Julie’s plans. When Tatjana said ‘yes’ all of them where cheering and clapping. They waited downstairs with a bottle of champagne. They danced the whole night!
How did you allocate your budget?
That was a though one. We spend most of our budget on decoration and food. Little on location rent, because the farm was empty and there was nothing in it.
Why did you choose your photographer?
We met Leentje and had an instant click. We decided right there on the spot and never regretted our choice because she’s a photographing rockstar! She made our dream visually come true and is the reason we can still look back on those precious memories.
The dresses
Our dresses and shoes were from Kollektie Eva
Theme or colour scheme
It was vintage themed, specifically the 50’s era.
Flowers
A simple bouquet of white roses.
Decoration
We decorated everything by ourselves. The garden and the barn was filled with little lights, we hung up heart shaped umbrellas in the sky, which was very romantic at night. We made wooden arrows, we had a lot of vintage themed postcards printed, they decorated the entire chill-area of the barn. We had our own globe which served as a ‘guest book’, a lot of the sweets at the desert table were provided by ourselves. We even had beer bottles with our picture on it!
Food
We had a walking dinner, by Coeur d’Artichaut Oudenaarde
Wedding Cake
Wedding cake was beautifully made by ‘Camille’s Cupcakes’.
Entertainment
As we are both member of a theatre group, our ceremony had a ‘touch’ of humour by our acting friends. They prepared a hilarious cover of QUEEN – Bohemian Rapsody. It was funny and emotional at the same time. We also had a super pretty photo booth at our wedding.
