My Photography Diary: The Be Workshop – March 2nd & 3rd 2013

Entry 9 of my photography diary and this time I attend a photography workshop. The Be.Workshop is a new photography workshop set up for photographers looking for creative inspiration, new photography skills, as well as full on, no nonsense business advice. It is the brain child of my Good friends Jaye from Tux & Tales Photography and Shelly from Toast of Leeds. The weekend was split into 2 sections. The first day was practical  with two separate styled shoots.
I was asked to attend and speak about blogging on the 2nd day which I was delighted to do. Jaye and Shelly then asked me if I fancied coming along on the 1st day to get some first hand practical experience, again I jumped at the chance!

It was a really interesting weekend where I learnt a HUGE amount. I have to say I did feel completely out of my depth, as I was with professional photographers who had big shiny cameras, loads of kit and knew what they were doing. I on the other hand had only taken my camera of AV mode and into Manual a couple of months before! So I did feel a bit intimidated!

There were two styled areas for us to take photos, the first set up was outside focusing on working with a couple and posing them, while the other one was set up indoors to focus on shooting in dark conditions. Both a lot harder than I thought! I actually found shooting inside easier as the light was constant, once you have your settings sorted you are able to go ahead and take photos. The outside on the other hand was completely different. One minute the light was bright and sunny, then next you would turn around and you would be in the shade, so constantly changing the shutter speed. It was really good practice though and it really pushed me.

Here I am using my camera in M mode, with my 50mm lens and my brand new 28mm lens, which I used for the first time this weekend!
