I have had an influx of Destination weddings sent to me recently, which is no bad thing when the weather here is so rubbish! It’s always nice to see a bit of sunshine when it is so cold and grey outside! It seems though that a lot of these destination weddings are coming from Italy, which is proving to be one of The most popular destinations to get married, which isn’t surprising when the view and scenery is so beautiful! Today’s wedding is no exception, which has been sent into me by Chiara and Giuseppe from Moumou Photography.
The lovely couple are Patrizia and Silvano who were married on 7th July. ‘The ceremony was held at San Colombano church, Via San Colombano in Italy and the reception was held at Restaurant Villa Pighet. San Colombano is our community, the place where we met and grew up together. We never doubted we wanted to be married there. We has 150 guests We got married one year after the proposal but it took less than 6 months to organize the wedding.’
How they met
We met in San Colombano’s oratory when we were 12; we have been together for 11 years.
The proposal
The proposal was very romantic. It happened on the 29th of May, 2011 in a very beautiful place. We went for a short hike on mount Canto Alto and Silvano proposed when we were looking at the suggestive panorama on top of the mountain. He literally caught me by surprise: initially I thought he was just joking and I asked if he was crazy. Then I saw the ring and I cried out of joy
How did you choose your photographer?
Silvano’s brother is a friend of Chiara and Giuseppe. We saw their pictures and so organized to meet them. We decided they were perfect for us.
The dress
The dress was by Valentini; accessories and shoes by Clara.
Theme or colour scheme
No, we didn’t have a colour scheme. We like to keep things natural and have people wear whatever they feel like. The invitation though featured a blue and orange scheme, our favourite colours.
Flowers
White roses, but not too many
Decoration
Just flowers – we like to keep things simple. We also placed on the church’s wall a few golden cardboards that reflected the lights of the candles.
Food
We started with a big selection of typical Italian appetizers; then we had rice with pesto and taleggio cream, ravioli in salsa diva (typical Italian dressing), and pork tenderloin with potatoes. For desert we had a buffet of cakes and fruits. The wedding cake was a delicious fruit tart.
Entertainment
Silvano’s brother organized a karaoke and Patrizia’s cousin led the dances. Other than that the entertainment consisted in enjoying each other’s presence.
Special moments
Each second of our wedding day was a special moment. We particularly enjoyed the ceremony and our friends and brothers’ speeches.
Biggest surprise
Friendship: we had 150 guests many of which didn’t know each other; yet it felt like we were all one big family. We couldn’t ask more of our wedding day.
Advice
1. Organize with great care the ceremony: that’s the most important part of the day. Choose carefully the readings that are most meaningful to you, and pick joyful and well known songs so that everybody can participate.
2. Keep things simple: you are celebrating love and everything else should be just a complement.
3. Relax, smile and enjoy your day as much as you can
