Escort Cards – An alternative idea to the table plan – 29 of my Favorites

Escort cards are becoming more popular in the UK, but already used a lot in America. They are a great alternative to the Table Plan as they can be used more creatively and often double up as fabulous forms of decoration and always a great way to tie in your wedding theme.

Instead of having a table plan telling your guests where they are sitting for the wedding breakfast, the escort cards are a fun little card in what ever format you want it to be, which has the guest’s name on the front of the card and the table number they are sitting on, on the back of the card……..what could be simpler! place names can then be coordinated if you wish with the escort cards, or tied in with the menus.

I have been looking for some examples of escort cards and got a bit carried away. To make it easier I have put them into categories (well you know I love my categories) and put them all on boards, we have Rustic, Colour, Food & Drink, Quirky and Plants and Flowers. I hope you like my sections.

First though here are my two favorites that I found.

Ahhhh, thanks! I had been wondering how this works because didn’t see how the tags help people find their place. Wish I knew about these when I got married a few moons ago! They are all lovely, but if I was pushed to choose, think I’d opt for a giveaway so either the cool lemonade bottles or the cutesy jams:) Nice post :)

    Great article on this.

As a calligrapher I’m always pushing this idea as an alternative to a table plan.

Last minute additions don’t become an issue anymore. And if someone doesn’t turn up on the day or you need to change the seating arrangement; you just swap the escort cards around.

    Brill idea!!

I LOVE escort cards! You can do the prettiest things with them! Some other ideas I love are writing the guest’s names on smooth black stones, tying them to starfish for a beach-themed wedding, and little pot plants of lavender etc. I had a classic film theme, but I just had hanging table lists, not individual cards, with a classic film star one one side and the names on the other side, with lots of crystal beads hanging below them.

Some great ideas and lovingly presented! I was intrigued and looking forward to the “pants and flowers” but plants and flowers was just as lovely! ;-) x.
