Anna is working on a couple of Ibiza weddings with me this year, and no doubt a lot more next year and I’m very excitted as I’m meeting her for cocktails on Friday.
You can see a couple of Ana’s wedding that I have featured on the blog HERE and HERE

So to find out more about the lovely Ana I asked her some questions.

Name and company name:
Ana Lui from Ana Lui Photography

Intro/Bio:
Photography, Video, Media, Ibiza, Weddings, Lots of love, and all that jazz…….all creative stuff in IBIZA !!!

How long have you been taking photos for?
I have been shooting since 2007 after I graduated from University of Plymouth.

How would you describe your style?
My style is modern and relaxed, unobtrusive and FUN !

What made you get into wedding photography?
I always wanted to shoot fashion but at the same time I love reportage photography. Shooting weddings allowed me to combine the two genres together. So a wedding for me is like a mini fashion shoot but at the same time very natural, real and unobtrusiveve.

Where are you based?
I am based in Ibiza but I love destination weddings or portrait shoots. In 2010 I had a chance to shoot in London and in Warsaw. Thi year I am hoping to shoot few weddings in Dubai!

How far will you travel for a wedding?
Just let me pack my gear and I will be anywhere you need me!

How long do you normally spend at a wedding?
I have 3 different packages (4,6 and 8 hour reportage) however if you are planning a 3-day wedding or 3-hour celebration I am open to your suggestions.

What is your favorite bit of technical kit?
I work with what I have so the most important kit is my eyes and my brain… I love working with natural light so I do take advantage of natural settings and scapes. I unconditionally love my 50mm & 85mm lens. I take them with me everywhere I go.

What is it about wedding photography that you love?
I love the emotions, excitement and intimacy of your wedding day. Everyone looks gorgeous, everyone is happy. It’s great being a part of something moving!

What sort of couple would be your ideal couple to photograph?
For me every single bride is beautiful and special, and every single groom is handsome and photogenic. I get the best out of you and try to capture your genuine emotions through the lens. That’s why my shots are so natural. I let you be yourself!

What celeb would you like to photograph?
I would love to take photos of Madonna although not sure if she will get married again

Who is your favorite photographer and why?
I have a lot of favourite photographers, there is a lot of great work out there. Wedding wise I totally love Max Wanger and Nicole Ramsay. I adore Annie Leibovitz and Diane Arbus – they are true mistresses of photography.

If you were to get married who would take your pictures / Who did take the pictures at your wedding
I would definitely call Max Wanger or Polly Alexandre. They are great.

What are you plans for the next 2 years?
Shoot, shoot and shoot! This year I am  fully booked so it will be pretty intense summer 2011! It’s all about weddings and fashion! I am super excited.

What in your opinion makes the perfect photo?
For me the perfect shot is spontaneous, real, loaded with emotions and happiness.

What is your biggest achievement so far within your photography?
My biggest achievement so far is getting my work featured in You&Your Wedding Magazine (UK edition) and Style Me Pretty (the best American wedding blog in the whole world). I am also super happy with tons of positive feedback from every single client I’ve had!

What sort of other photography do you do apart from weddings?
I don’t believe in shooting or specializing in one type of photography only. I think a good photographer can shoot anything. It’s like good chef or amazing DJ. You can’t make just one dish over and over or play the same tune all your life! I shoot interiors, venues, portraits and weddings.

What advice would you give couples when choosing their wedding photographer?
It is important to have a good communication with your wedding photographer and it is vital to like him/her! I believe you must like your photographer as a person so it will be much easier for you to relax and feel comfortable!

What is your favorite photo that you have taken?
I like my film shots (35mm Black & White), which I develop myself. I have a lot of shots that I like and that I often look at or go back to. They bring good memories and make me happy.

Tell us something about yourself that we may not know, non work related.
My friends find it weird but doing dishes and mopping floor relaxes me. I really enjoy doing all the house –work!

What do you really love? And what do you really hate?
I love: my boyfriend, Ibiza, good food, chocolate, watching films, exercising, visiting London, summer in Warsaw, wine from Basque country and boogie music!
I hate: ignorant people, rubbish in the sea, chopped liver and insensitive approach to animals. Seeing 100 million sharks, dolphins or fur-animals killed each year makes me sad and angry.
