Here at Boho we love going out to meet new suppliers, especially when they invite us round for tea and cake!! Today the amazing Butterflies and Angles master Chocolatier have the grand opening for their new shop. I met Abbie a few weeks ago, when they had only been in the premises for a week, so I am very keen to go back now it is all up and running, and have another taste of their amazing cakes!!

From extravagant towers of chocolate to chic iced perfection, each one of our cakes is created with an unparalleled level of talent, attention to detail and passion.
Butterflies & Angels was founded almost a decade ago by trained chocolatier and cake designer Abbie James. With a background in design and a love of food (especially chocolate!) Abbie gave up her ‘day job’ to focus on creating beautiful cakes and chocolate creations. Abbie’s better half, Darren finally succumbed to the lure of chocolate and joined the business on a full time basis two years ago in an attempt to try and keep up with demand! Since then Butterflies & Angels has had resounding success, with their highly individual creations appearing on both TV and in high quality magazines, including OK!. Their combination of passion and talent and a never-ending quest for perfection have resulted in Abbie and Darren’s award-winning designs being highly sought after by both private and celebrity clients. Their chocolate creations have won them particular acclaim with their combination of show-stopping design and unrivalled taste (ask anyone who’s eaten Butterflies & Angels chocolate mud cake and they’ll tell you it’s the best chocolate cake in the world!!).
Abbie says about their cakes ”We specialise in creating cakes that are centre-pieces for the celebration. Whether it’s a family birthday or a grand society wedding, your cake should still be the most beautiful thing in the world. That’s why, no matter whether its a single tier cake or a huge tower of individual desserts, it will always receive our upmost attention to detail. We take into consideration every wish when creating our cakes, the theme of the celebration, the style of the venue, the client’s favourite colour, the fact that the mother of the bride loves lemon drizzle cake; in fact, every whim and desire is noted to enable us to design a cake that is something to both admire and devour! The same goes for our handmade chocolates and wedding favours – we listen to what our clients want then we create something to suit. Some of our best selling chocolates and favours have stemmed from an original idea by our clients!! You fill see that all of the cakes are created using the finest ingredients, sourced locally where possible. They bake all their cakes the “old fashioned way” – sugar, eggs, flour, butter – no nasty cake mixes, additives or artificial flavourings. All the cakes are baked to order a couple of days before your celebration to ensure they are at their freshest and most delicious for you and your guests to enjoy. They design each of their creations based on our clients ideas. Every one of our customers is unique and they believe your cake should be too.

– Madagascan vanilla sponge with vanilla bean buttercream & strawberry jam
– Sicilian lemon drizzle cake with limoncello buttercream & homemade lemon curd

-Viennese fruit cake with rum & brandy soaked vine fruits and nuts

-Belgian Chocolate mudcake with double chocolate ganache
Our mudcake also comes with the following fillings:
-Marc du Champagne truffle & strawberry coulis
-Cointreau truffle & orange coulis
-Raspberry Jacobert truffle & berry coulis
-Dulce de Leche (an Argentinian toffee used by Haagen Daz)
This list is not exhaustive – if there is a particular cake flavour that you absolutely adore but isn’t on our list just let us know and we’ll bake it for you!
After eating their cakes and meeting Abbie and Darren personally I can’t recomned them more highly!
