Featured Venue: The Chimney House

Today is the official launch of The Chimney House at Kelham Island in Sheffield.
A few weeks ago I went along to meet Sally and to have my own personal tour of the building. I was very impressed with what had been done to the building and again proud by another Sheffield business making it good in this great city of ours!!

The Chimney House is a Grade II listed building that has been designed with a respectful nod to its industrial roots but with a realisation for its eclectic present and future. The space, with the 93ft chimney, fireplaces, exposed brick work and beams lends itself to all styles and influences from faded glamour and Boho Chic to luxurious Art Deco to timeless design classic furniture and love of random and beautiful things.
The Meeting Room & The Front Room have been created to offer a creative space for people who are accustomed to or want to meet in a stimulating and cosmopolitan environment. Just over 2 hours from London, 50 minutes from Manchester and 40 from Leeds. The Chimney House is a central gathering spot with excellent City links making it easy to broaden your horizons and achieve the look and feel you need to represent your brand.

The Chimney House is steeped in history and was previously used as an integral part of industrial Kelham Island it has been brought back to life from derelict and shown lashings of love and care. The building and area are steeped in unadulterated history. To tell the tale of The Chimney House and area Sheffield artist Tom Newell who is also a Dazed & Confused magazine regular has hot footed it back from Paris (after finishing accessorising fashion designer John Richmond’s Paris store) to paint on the Chimney.
The Chimney House was actually an elephant house! Home to a elephant called Sarah. She was walked down to an area in Sheffield by her keeper for her daily work as a fork lift truck! She is shown powering a cog which in turn releases a wave of water in which 3 fish jump forth illustrating the 3 fish payment scheme. Workers of the rolling mills had permission to take 3 salmon a week to supplement their small wages to help feed their families!

The Chimney house has been designed to be used both in the day and in the evening. The day is aimed at professional companies to utilise the meeting room, while the evening can be used for small gatherings of friends meet up, eat, drink, watch films and generally meet up and enjoy!

The Meeting Room is open everyday to use for meetings debate, training, discussions, exhibitions, networking, product launches, open house invites, private events, photo shoots, film, really any gathering be it professional, educational or social.
The Meeting Room is a tactile environment created to invite creative thought, generate ideas, bolster moral as well as being intuitive to professional needs and flexible to evoke innovation, productivity and job satisfaction. The Front Room can be hired in addition to The Meeting Room as a break out space or as a smaller space for a smaller group.
It can hold:
20 boardroom
50 theatre style
Up to 60 standing

There are serval options when hiring out the room:
Breakfast meetings – 6.30am – 8:00am
Half a day – 9:00am – 12:30pm or 1:30pm – 5:00pm
Stay the day – 9:00am – 5:00pm

Equipment available: Full colour Projector, Screen (6 x 4 ft), Plasma Screen, Conference Call Telephone, AV Equipment, Flip Chart and Pens, WiFi and Hardwire 10MB Broadband.
The room can be lit with natural daylight, full blackout or architectural lighting on dimmer switch.
