Today we are talking jewellery with the lovey people at Benati. Benati is the brain...
If you are currently thinking of planning a destination wedding but need some inspiration and ideas of where to get married, then today is your lucky day! Or if you have decided on Thailand for your wedding day but need some help pinning down a location and suppliers, then I have just the lady you need in your life. May I introduce Caroline Milne from Forever Lovestruck. Caroline set up her wedding planning business three years ago and since then has been planning weddings for couples looking for something rustic, Boho and individual. She likes to plan each and every last detail to perfection, meaning she will do all the hard work so you don’t have to. She will find you a venue, source your suppliers from her tried and tested little white book of wedding suppliers, she even has her own huge wedding range you can hire from, including linens, lighting, plates, anything you could wish for! Caroline is here to make your wedding in Thailand completely stress free and a real thing of beauty, adding something extra special to your amazing destination wedding.
What made you start your business?
I set up the business in 2016 after my own wedding planner approached me about partnering with her. She suggested that I set up my own wedding planning business as I was the most organised bride she’d ever had – her words, not mine! As we live on separate islands in the Gulf of Thailand, we both run our own businesses, but also jump in to support and work with each other, as we need to. She is a wonderful mentor and I can’t thank her enough for planting the seed.
Where are you based?
I’m so fortunate to be based on the tropical island of Koh Tao, in the Gulf of Thailand. This tiny island (21km.sq!) is just heaven, and I can’t imagine living anywhere else.
What sort of geographical area do you cover?
As a destination wedding planner, I specialise in bespoke weddings for lovestruck couples from around the world who have chosen our little slice of paradise to say their ‘I do’s’. Some of my couples are residents of Koh Tao and some have been here on holiday and loved the island so much that they want to marry here. However, the vast majority love the idea of planning a wedding and an adventurous travel experience all in one, and often only set foot on the island for the very first time just a few days before their wedding.
What were you doing before?
I spent 10 years as an Event Director for a marketing agency in London, then I moved to Thailand where initially I worked as a dive pro before taking on the role of Head teacher for a small, private primary school here on Koh Tao – I have a degree in Education & Classical Music and taught in the UK many moons ago!
Organisational excellence is a must for managing large-scale events, guiding scuba divers and running a school, so planning is very much in my blood! But it was only when I planned my own wedding in Thailand a few years ago that I realised that I could marry my organisational skills and experience with my absolute joy of weddings into a new calling. Planning the intimate details of weddings, dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s is what I live, breath and sleep for!
How would you describe your style?
It’s not my wedding so I take my style inspiration from each of my lovestruck couples. Of course, the style of weddings I plan are more along the lines of rustic, boho, beach weddings, rather than formal, chandelier-lit weddings, due to the location and breath-taking tropical back-drop that I have the privilege of enhancing. I don’t use an “assembly line” formula that I replicate for each wedding. Each and every wedding is bespoke, and we go to great lengths to ensure that the final look is deeply personal to each couple – they don’t tend to live their lives conventionally, so for their weddings they most definitely want to tick outside the box! With few limitations and lots of imagination, we get stuff built, made and ordered wherever possible to give our couples the finishing touches they desire.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Where do I start?! I have a real passion for organisation and am very systematic in my approach to planning each wedding; I have to be as all my weddings are bespoke. I use a lot of online tools to ensure the planning experience is smooth, streamlined and organised; not only for me, but also for my couples. The greatest satisfaction, however, is every time I see my couples walk back up the aisle as committed life partners having just experienced a wedding that has gone way beyond their expectations. To see their beaming faces – the ‘we did it!’ moment – is so rewarding and without doubt my favourite part of each wedding.
What sort of couple do you think you attract?
We plan weddings on an exotic and intimate island that is different from the franchise resort weddings that can be found on the bustling holiday islands. Our couples know that they are getting something extra special by choosing Koh Tao. It’s quite a rustic island, only accessible by a two-hour ferry journey, and as such, we don’t have the modern day trappings of everyday life in the West. Forever Lovestruck couples long for sandy beaches, far-off places, local charm, cultural experiences and getting married in an intimate ceremony that reflects their individual style, story and values. They’re bold and fearless, quiet and reserved, curious and contemplative – they come in all personalities from all across the world, but they have one thing in common… they want a different kind of wedding experience that’s truly meaningful and true to who they are.
Can you give me some information on your pricing structure?
I offer bespoke weddings and from the get-go I spend a significant amount of time understanding my couples and their vision in order to create a one-off wedding experience that suits their dreamy aspirations, hard-earned budget and love of adventure. Interested couples schedule a 30-minute discovery call so that I can fully absorb their wedding wish-list, determine the level of planning support they need and it’s also an opportunity to see if we are a good fit for each other.
What is your ideal way to spend a day off?
Cuddled up on the sofa with my two beloved dogs, my wonderfully supportive husband, a good movie and a cup of Earl Grey tea imported from the UK!
Our new products
Koh Tao is a little different to most places in that there are no wedding rental companies or even large stores to source equipment from. We have carefully selected all of our own top quality boho-style decor, linens, furniture, lighting, drapery and cutlery, sourced from around the world. We own all of our assets and our couples have access to them with our services.
We are very excited to announce that we have recently invested in even more gorgeous equipment, giving our couples more choice for their wedding day. We are now able to offer extensive tablescape options in gold, rose gold and silver and we have a brand new oak ‘barrel’ bar – perfect for a beach cocktail station or whisky bar!
