Happy Wednesday everyone, and how are you all? Are you surviving the heat? It sure has been hot hasn’t it, but so nice for it to finally be summer! Today is the first day of the summer holidays, so I have taken the day off to spend with Dexter. I’m looking forward to spending some time with him over the next few weeks. Today we are visiting one of my favourite wedding venues, Tunnels Beaches in North Devon. I have featured many a wedding at this venue, and they have all been lovely, including this amazing one from D &A Photography. Lucy and Dan both love the sea, so Tunnels seamed like the natural choice. They filled their day with a colour scheme of blue and green with accents of coral, as well as a wonderful collection of shells and beach themed decor. The cake looks amazing which is all edible shells, and the flowers are just divine! They really add a splash of colour to the day. I hope you love this wedding as much as I do.
Lucy and Dan were married on 20th August 2018 at Tunnels Beaches, Ilfracombe, North Devon. ‘We both love the sea, Dan is a surfer and North Devon was one of our first holidays together. We had 120 guests and it took 18 months to plan.’
How they met
We met on a pub crawl in London through mutual friends.
The proposal
Dan proposed on a beach in France, we were the only ones on the beach!
Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We splurged on photography because we wanted photos that captured memories and photos last forever!
How did you choose your photographer?
I looked at photographers who had shot at out venue before and we fell in love with D &A Photography. When we met Dan, he made everything so easy (I was so nervous about having my photo taken!)
The Dress
My Dress was Charlie Brear, shoes were Dune.
The suit and bridesmaids
Bridesmaids were multi- tie dresses from ‘in one clothing’ and the suit was ‘Without Prejudice’ from House of Fraiser.
Theme or colour scheme
Mainly blue, lot’s of green and burst of coral
Flowers
We went for a ‘wild flower’ look.
Decoration
The venue is so beautiful we didn’t need much decoration! It was very minimal. A few candles, tables had fish bows decorated with wild flowers.
Food
We had a BBQ!
Wedding cake
One of Dan’s mum’s friends made the cake. It was hand painted and covered in shells (edible shells!)
Entertainment
Adam Isaac played in the afternoon and then his band joined in the evening!
Who supplied the stationery?
We made it ourselves.
Personal touches
We made the table decorations, wedding favours, table plan and painted the order of service and plan of the day!
Special moments
We loved celebrating and dancing with everyone in the evening. We also really enjoyed a walk along the beach with our photographer, Dan. It was nice to have some time together and take in the beautiful scenery.
Advice for other couples
Try and sit back occasionally and take it all in, everyone is here because they love you!
Biggest surprise
Dan’s brother, his best man, had asked one of our favourite musicians to record a message for us!
