Charlotte and Tom’s ‘Sunflowers and Bouncy Castle’ Music Loving Shrewsbury Wedding by Florence Fox

Happy Monday everyone, we are now officially in the week before Christmas – how very exciting! My working week finishes on Friday as I’m sure many of yours does. I am super busy this week finishing stuff off, writing posts for the christmas holidays and getting everything crossed off my list so I can take a few days off over the Christmas break. I had a Christmas filled weekend and we have more festivities planned this week, the countdown is well and truly on!! Today I have a gorgeous summer wedding to share with you. Charlotte and Tom wanted a laid back wedding so they chose Stanford Farm in Shrewsbury and filled it with music themed details and lots of bright and beautiful sunflowers. The day was captured by Florence Fox.

Our wedding was a laid back fun-filled day celebrating our love of music and festivals. We wanted a day with a few formalities as possible and for all our guests to have as much fun as possible.

Charlotte and Tom were married on 11th August 2018 at Stanford Farm in Shrewsbury. ‘We loved the laid back feel of the place and the fact we could put our own stamp on our day. We both grew up in Shropshire and we loved the countryside and views from the farm. We had 80 day guests and 120 in the evening, it took 18 months to plan.’

How they met
We have been together for 6 years but have known each other much longer. We met through Tom’s best friend who happens to be Charlotte’s brother in law

The proposal
Tom proposed on Christmas day (Charlie’s favourite day of the year) on top of hill looking over the town which we both grew up in.

How did you allocate your budget?
We put most of the budget on the venue and entertainment trying to keep everything else as cheap as possible by doing it ourselves.

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We spent a lot of money on the band as we wanted them to be perfect. We saved a lot of money on the catering as we used a family friend and got a cake from M&S. We used our Mothers’ craft skills to do most of the decorations for us.

How did you choose your photographer?
We searched for long time online to find someone who was relaxed as possible and who we really liked the style of photos. Florence really stood out for us and then she was the photographer at a wedding that Charlie was bridesmaid for and we really loved the way she shot their day.

The dress
My dress was by Watters, my hair piece was by Ivory and Co who did my sister’s wedding dress and they are amazing and the designer is so lovely. My shoes were from new look and an absolute bargain, I also wore my mother’s pearls.

The suit and bridesmaids
The suit was tailored made for Tom when we were on holiday in Vietnam. The bridesmaids’ dresses were from chichi, in Debenhams

Theme or colour scheme
We didn’t really have much of a colour scheme but the bridesmaids’ dresses were blue and we had sunflowers so I guess blue and Yellow. The main theme was music and a festival feel about the day.

Flowers
Sunflowers, which are our favourite

Decoration
Charlie’s mum made jam jar candles for the tables and around the whole farm. Tom’s mum made bunting and pompoms to have in the barns.

Food
We had pie and mash for the day and burritos in the evening

Wedding cake
we got the M&S Colin and Connie wedding cakes another bargain

Entertainment
we had a bouncy castle for the kids (and adults as well obviously) we also had a band play for the evening.

Personal touches
We did a lot ourselves such as making the table plan and stationary. We had quiz for each of the tables us and music to help break the ice on the tables.

Special moments
My maid of honour put our evening food in the bar away from the main party so that we could just sit together and talk about the day so far. It was such a lovely few moments just the two of us.

Advice for other couples
Try to take a step back when you can and try to spend as much time together, it goes so fast and it’s easy to spend all day mingling and not really time together

Biggest surprise
There weren’t too many surprises as we planned most of the day ourselves. Tom bought me some converse for the evening as he knows I can never keep heals on for a whole night. It was really great to be able to take my heals off and dance the night way
