Amy and John’s Rain Filled Devon Beach Wedding by Grace Elizabeth

There is nothing like a bit of September rain when it comes to a wedding, especially when that wedding is an outdoor beach wedding in Devon. However, today’s lovely couple Amy and John didn’t let the rain put them off holding their wedding outside. As Jon said ‘we drove 300 miles from the other side of the country just to get married here, outside, so we are getting married here, outside!’ They braved the rain with brollies and they must have been so glad they did as the pictures are lovely. With a beach theme and the portrait shots right on the sea edge, it was worth the 300 mile journey! Thanks to Grace Elizabeth for the lovely photos.

It was like a dream come true…my husband planned it to perfection. The most magical day when time stood still.

Amy and John David were married on 6th September 2018 at Tunnels beaches in Devon. ‘We both love the beach and had our first date and proposal was on a beach, so googled beach weddings
and tunnels stood out from the rest. We had 50 guests, the venue was booked within a week from proposal…everything else was still being planned up to a week before  the wedding.’

How they met
Online…first date as first day of meeting on mersea beach. 2 and half years together.

The proposal
We were camping in Cornwall for the May half term with my sister and niece…we went to the watergate beach and walking along me and my sister was talking while John and Hudson walked towards the sea. Next minute my sister told me that John is calling me, so I walked over to them and Hudson had written in the sand “will you marry me” John was down on one knee proposing. Obviously I said yes!!

How did you allocate your budget?
My mum and dad paid for the venue, food and my dress… the remaining we had saved money in bank every pay day from proposal month to the wedding month

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We didn’t hold back on anything…if we wanted it we saved and got it.

I’m Grace Elizabeth, a five-foot tall, tea-drinking, tattoo-loving, sea-adoring alternative wedding and lifestyle photographer from Colchester in Essex. With a heart of wanderlust, I will travel anywhere and everywhere! For me, photography is about getting to know people, and as a result, I am driven to tell people’s journeys, experiences and the love stories formed along the way, through my eyes. My approach to photography is relaxed and candid. I have something of a rustic, natural style to my photos, I think it’s important for them to be able to withstand time so that they become archival, exactly the kind of photos you could pass down for generations to come.
