Today’s wedding sees us head across to the Cotswolds for the gorgeous wedding of Rebecca and Paul. Rebecca and Paul both wanted to mix their love of the town and the country into their wedding and as they are from the Cotswolds they were able to do this with an abundance of venues to choose from. They went for minimal decor, keeping things simple and focusing on the gorgeous interior of Brockworth tithe barn. I just adore Rebecca’s House of Ollichon gown it looks perfect against the minimal theme of the day. The whole thing has been captured perfectly by Curious Rose Photography.
Rebecca and Paul were married on 9th September 2017 at Cheltenham Pump room and Brockworth tithe barn. ‘We wanted a mix of town and country and somewhere easy for the majority of all our
guests. Our hometown of the Cotswolds just happens to be a top wedding destination so there was plenty of choice. We had 100 guests and it took a year on and off to plan.’
How they met
We met through mutal friends and have been together almost 10 years
The proposal
A rainy day walking through the woods, down on one knee in the mud!
Where did you splurge and where did you save?
Food and location was key for us but we made alot of savings by making things ourselves or having friends and family help out where they could. We hired a country house for all our friends to stay in with us. This meant they had no choice but to hang out and party with us the night before! We made our own cake and bouquets as well as our wedding rings and the veil.
How did you choose your photographer?
We wanted a relaxed documentary style feel, Laura was the perfect choice, we felt like we’d known her forever.
The dress
Dress was by House of Ollichon, shoes New Look and jewellery by Brigitta
The suit and bridesmaids
Joshua Kane. Me and my best friend designed and made all 6 bridesmaids dresses
Theme or colour scheme
Dark green and neutral tones.
Flowers
Green and white wildflowers, eucalyptus, asparagus and gypsophillia
Decoration
Quite minimal, small wax-flower sprigs in jars on the table and larger vases in the corner of the room. The barn didn’t need much dressing up, the dramatic beams acted as a great feature alone, we just added some festoon lighting to illuminate them.
Food
All our food was cooked inside an oven in a land rover! We had a relaxed banquet style of meat and salads, it worked really well.
Wedding cake
My Nannies chocolate cake receipe made by my Aunty
Entertainment
We had a band and then our own music later in the night
Who supplied the stationery?
We made our own invitations
Personal touches
It was important to us to do lots of things ourselves and luckily we enjoy doing crafty things anyway so it cut costs massively, plus we had plenty of time. We created our own cocktail and named it Gin-ger Hill, that went down a little too well!
Special moments
Driving away from the ceremony just the two of us and realising we’d done it!
Advice for other couples
Roll with the punches, things may go wrong but it all makes for better funnier stories afterwards.
Biggest surprise
My car breaking down on the way to the ceremony. Luckily a family member passed us and offered us a lift just in the knick of time. I was also made to pogo stick during the reception in my dress.

I am a photographer based in Birmingham. I work collaboratively with every couple to ensure we build photography to suit their individuality. A curious Rose couple wants beautiful creative and natural photography that is conducted in a relaxed manor. Enhancing the vibe of the day is always at the forefront of my mind, and ensures I achieve really genuine, warm story-telling and make some good friends along the way.
