Melissa and Robert’s Dance Filled Sunny Santorini Wedding by Carla Blain Photography

As we head towards the latter part of the week and we can’t seem to shift this terribly cold, wet, sleety and snowy weather we have had all week. I thought it might be a little treat to take you off to somewhere warm and sunny. Today’s wedding comes from very sunny and very warm Santorini and it is bound to put a smile on your face! Santorini always had a special place in the hearts of Melissa and Robert, and having visited it a few years ago for a friend’s wedding, I can see why. The views are to die for, the sun is guaranteed and hospitality is more than welcoming. There are so many Santorini wedding venues to choose from, the choice is endless. This wedding just goes to show that it isn’t the details and the decor that make a wedding. Weddings are about love, celebration and making sure all your friends and family have a good time! And my oh my, did Melissa and Robert’s friends and family have a good time! So much dancing and so many smiles, all captured perfectly by Carla Blain photography.

We wanted everyone to have fun! There had to be dancing this was imperative and dancing is something our friends and us enjoy together on nights out! We wanted the day to be about love, fun and the music.

Melissa and Robert were married on 30th September 2017 at Santo winery and Pyrgos restaurant, Santorini, Greece. ‘We fell in love with the island, its so romantic and pretty we knew this had to be the destination! We had 60 guests and it took 18 months to plan’

How they met
We’ve been together around 10 years now, we lived across the road from one another and it was a family member who introduced us!

The proposal
It was a very intimate afternoon in our home when Rob popped the question, I cried, then my best friend turned up, we cried some more and actually it will stay with me forever that the afternoon was spent with two of the dearest people I could hope for.

How did you allocate your budget
There was probably a budget to start but I think this escalated quickly, we knew our priorities were food, the dress and photography.

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We splurged on our venues and dress, we saved in some places, our very cool uncle kindly offered to play DJ for the day although I know he had the best time doing this.

How did you choose your photographer?
Carla Blain Photography, Carla as recommended to us by a mutual friend.

The Dress
David Bridal and shoes by Carvella.

The suit and bridesmaids
Asos and the highstreet.

Colour scheme
We wanted a royal blue theme.

Large ivory Gerbers

Blue and White colours with an elegant theme.

Soooo much food, we had salads, there was moussaka , lamb shank and as much cake as you could possibly think of. We wanted our guests to really enjoy this part of the day.

We had a Jamaican style wedding cake, with blue ribbon.

We spent the afternoon greek dancing and my very cool uncle was kind enough to DJ for us into the evening hours.

Personal touches
We decided to decorate the tables with own items, infact many of our wonderful friends were kind enough to pack bits and pieces into their cases to help share the load.

Special moments
Dancing in the sunchine, the first moments we saw and danced with out friends on the terrace, and of course running around the pretty village of Prygos barefoot for our photographs is something I will never forget.

Advice for other couples
Above all else, JUST.HAVE.FUN.
