Featured Venue – Great Victoria in Bradford

A few weeks ago I was doing a Venue search for a bride and I came across The Great Victoria in Bradford. First of all I was very impressed with the customer service I got when I rang and asked for details, so I decided I should pay them a visit and have a proper look round.

The Great Victoria is part of the Tomahawk family of hotels, which also includes Aston Hall in Sheffield and Woodlands in Leeds, so you know that the standard is going to be high before you even get there!

The hotel is based in the centre of Bradford city centre, opposite the train station and withing walking distance to the theatres, so perfect if you are looking for something maybe away from the normal country home. The decor inside is modern, funky and colourful with the reception area and bar having brightly coloured chairs and cushions to give a contemporary look. Perfect for the modern couple looking for something slightly different.

Built in 1867 it still has elements of the old but mixed with plenty of the new, so much so that is has been awarded Best Small Venue in Yorkshire 2008. With plenty of parking and with the beautiful yorkshire countryside on its door step, it is perfect for every wedding guest!

The hotel has 2 main rooms for weddings with 3 other rooms for much smaller wedding parties.
The first and more traditional room is the Corniche which can seat up to 120 for a sit down meal with 200 for an evening reception.

The second is the Velasco Function room which is on the lower ground floor of the hotel, this is more modern and completely self contained with it’s own bar, perfect for larger parties and private functions.

Hire of either room is very reasonable for a city center location for more information you can contact me for full a full price list. As for food the menu can be made to suit your taste, and for a 3 course sit down meal ranges from £26 – £34, with evening buffet at £15 and late night snacks at £5 a head.

As well as great wedding facilities the hotel has 70 bedrooms and suites, each one is individually designed and comes with flat screen TV, DVD player and bespoke toiletries, while on the 4th floor there is a magnificent selection of penthouses. Perfect for your wedding night and for all of your guests to stay.

The hotel currently has a fantastic offer for an all inclusive wedding at £1795 for 45 guests and 85 evening guests. This includes Room hire for ceremony, reception room hire, 3 course wedding breakfast, drinks, DJ, bedroom for bridal couple, with the options for an upgrade to add on other guests. I really liked this hotel, it was light, bright, funky and modern. If you are looking for a city centre wedding venue, offering superb value for money then this is a great option. It has some lovely areas for photographs so perfect for a winter wedding.
