Todays beautiful wedding sees us jet off to sunny Sardinia for the totally gorgeous wedding of Anna Paola and Giovanni, courtesy of Valeria Mameli. The whole day was planned in just 4 months even though they had a generous guest list of 220. They kept things simple and concentrated on an amazing venue and fantastic food. With a natural colour palette, the decor was kept chic and classic, with a Boho twist from the brides beautiful look for the day. Add in the most amazing low golden light and you have the recipe for the most wonderful wedding.
Anna Paola and Giovanni were married on the 21st August 2016 at Cattedrale di Santa Maria Alghero followed by a reception at Ristorante Pedramare in Northern Sardinia . ‘The cathedral and the restaurant are places of the heart to us. Alghero is the city in which where we are known and we have studied. We invited 220 guests and planned the wedding in 4 months.’
How they met
We met in our local 9 years ago and have never left each othes side since.
The Proposal
He literally brought me to church to fix the date!
How did you allocate your budget?
We fixed up a maximum budget and we divided it in various items of expenditure
Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We splurged for the location, food and beverage, and for flowers. We saved on the cars and in all the other little details. “Less is more” was our motto…..we avoid all the superflous stuff!
Why did you choose your photographer?
Our photographer is the best! She’s genius and amzing at her job. She has captured the essence and spontaneity of that unrepeatable day, not only of us but also of our parents and friends that shared those moments with us.
The Dress
Wedding dress from Azzedine Alaia and shoes from Victor & Rolf. Party dress by Maje
The Suit and Bridesmaids
The suit is Ermenegildo Zegna with Church’s shoes. Bridesmaids had dresses of various brands like Paul and Joe, Patrizia Pepe…..
Theme or Colour Scheme
We used white and pastels and in general we worked to a country seaside theme – a natural, but classic chic style.
Flowers
We had lisianthus and mediterranean essence
Decoration
Traditional ancient Sardinian basket with flowers and aromatic essence hearts in wood and similar stuff.
Food
We had a rich menu. We have a typical Mediterranean menu, with typical local food.
Wedding Cake
We had many different cakes like sacher torte, fruit cake etc. The wedding cake was a millefeuille with chantilly cream
Entertainment
We had classical live music in church. Trio of violins and a DJ for the dinner and the party
Stationery
A local typographer supplied our stationery
Personal Touches
We did the favours for our guests. We printed in addition to favours, a book from my grandfather who is a writer. The book was about blessings to a married couple.
Special Moments or Highlights
There are so many little moment that is very difficult to choose just one or two…..but maybe the moment when I was entering church with my father and I saw all the people and my future husband waiting for me in front at the altar.
Advice for other couples
Just to enjoy the moment, be yourself always….smile and cry with your friends & parents ….and of course the love of your life!!
Biggest Surprise
To see the excitement and the happiness on the faces of all the beautiful people who support us and stay with us!

I’m a wedding family photographer based in Sardinia, Italy. I love to capture weddings in Sardinia, its light, colours, landscapes, the sea all around. For me, Sardinia is light, and it is passion, wildness and freedom. My Sardinia is strong like a hug, smells like Myrtle and nature, Sardinia is as free as the wind. And I have chosen it as the theater of my wedding photos. The consistency of my work is also my point of view: narrative, unobtrusive, yet thoughtful, and feminine. I’m also a maternity and documentary family photographer.
